Don't worry, I'm keeping the Blue one. Probably forever.

I did buy a 2008 Goldwing though, and I am a fan of that one. I didn't THINK I would be... but wow does it ever ride light. I am thoroughly impressed. I got a few things to do to it to get it right... it needs tires (yes a darkside one Smiley) and it needs a front tire. And I need to find highway pegs that work. But it's a beauty. If you can tolerate all the tupperware. Undecided

I took it off the classifieds and deleted my craigslist post.

Hope to see you all on the road. I am planning to make it to the indiana state ride in in Madison... but like always... I am subject to bailing because of something with the kid.

Jabba, how is the wrestling champ doing ?

He's good. Already looking forward to next wrestling season. Getting ready to start Football. He's excited about that too. He's 94 lbs now, and had grown 2" taller since wrestling season!

Darkside, most run the 195/55/16 on the Wing but I couldn't find anything I liked in that size so I stuffed the same 205/55/16 that was on the Valk in there. Did hafta punch 2 small holes in the interior fender plastic at the front left & zip tie it back 'bout an inch. Been that way for 25k+ with no prob.
Highway Pegs, anything you mount to the horizontal crash bar is gonna decrease your lean angle, & anything "fix" mounted to the vertical crash bar is gonna require you to ride with your feet pretty high all the time. My solution was Mick-O's (the GQ's) that mount to the vert so I don't hit early in the turns. They still require I throw my leg pretty high to get on them but then they drop into a comfortable position, & retract back completely outta the way when I'm off 'em. I have a bad habit of stayin' on them in the turns but they jus' "float" up under my feet. I'm still customizing a perfectly good set of highway pegs, haha!
Congrats on the new ride, enjoy!

Hi Jabba,
Really nice looking Wing.  Trish and I have found the GL1800 to be the most comfortable bike we have ever owned. We can be out on the Gl1800 2-up for 12-15 hours a day and she doesn't complain.  We've had our 2005 for 2 years.  We owned a GL1500 for 10 years.  Really nice bike but it lacked power 2-up pulling a 300lb+ trailer in the mountains, which is where we like to ride.  Gl1800 has tons of power and handles great.
Mic-O-Pegs were great on my GL1500.  Could not get comfortable on that bike without them.  On the Gl1800 not so much  I've sold both pairs I've bought and tried.  I like the Kuryakyn Ergo's on this bike.  I really like the Michelin Alpin Primacy PA3 Run Flat tire on the GL1800 and like the extra rubber of the Battle Ax BT-45 on the front.  I've found the Diamond Custom seat on the Wing to work well for us.
I really like the Valkyrie Interstate, but doubt if it will never be a long distance 2-up bike for us.  Trish can ride 6-8 hours on it, but then she is ready to get off.  I've been talking to the guy that makes the Diamond Custom seats to get him to make me a seat for the Valkyrie Interstate.  He says it will be as comfortable as ours on the GL1800.  Then maybe we can get the Valkyrie on some of our long rides.
Good luck with your new bike.

I have a Russel Day long that I swapped back and forth between the IS and the Standard. I have done an Indy to Houston Iron butt on that one, and had ZERO issues. My wife is good for 500 miles a day or so. Maybe more on the wing, we'll see.

I'll probably send the stock seat to california over the winter and have Russell make me one. I am REALLY impressed with them.

I need a front tire. I'll probably just go Metzeler for the first one. I will probably follow your advise for the DS tire. You are not the only one to recommend that one.

Take a look at the Bridgestones for the front. Metz doesn't seem to make a good front for the Wing. (Shame too cause it was the bomb on the Valky!)
Most favor the Exedra 709, but I think the softer Exedra Max handles more like the Metz did on the Valk. I've run both & I'm stayin' with the Max cooldude

I've always heard good things about the Russell "Ride all Day"seats and lots of the Valkyrie Interstates I've come across have them.  That seat was my #1 choice when I was over 300lbs.  Now that I'm around 260 I'm not sure whether to get the heavy duty springs.  Little concerned the seat would be a little too hard. Could get one without the HD springs but not sure if it would have enough support.  That is what caused me to end up with a Diamond Custom on the GL1800.   If you haven't found it yet, the website gl1800riders.com is a nice source of info about the GL1800 and a place to buy and sell parts.

Thanks Mr. Whiskey and Dan. Mr. Whiskey... I'll take your advise about the front tire. I loved the Metzeler on the Valk, and in fact... I just noticed I need a new one for the STD.

I spent ALL my sock drawer money buying the Wing... so I have been a little slow to start buying stuff for it like tires and highway pegs. I have some things I tool off the IS to get rid of. I should probably put them on the Classifieds.

Dan, I have not looked too much nor joined any Wing sites. I love the folks here so much...  angel

So I need a Bridgestone front tire, and Michelin Alpin rear. I also need another Metzeler for the Valk. A seat to send to Russel to have built. As well as a USB charger, and highway pegs. That's a couple grand worth of goodies... Dang it. Too much wants, not enough dough...

congrats on the good deal on the newer Wing, looks sharp and very clean/well kept with some extra chrome goodies thrown in the mix as well.  I personally like my show chrome front passenger hwy. pegs at 5'10", but I can see someone taller than 6' having issues being cramped on the Valk I/S or newer Wing with them needing more legroom to stretch out.

I've found a few good deals with a maroon red Wing pop up here and there, but haven't been tempted to let my Valk I/S go just yet.  I love it when bystanders stare at it going by where as on the Wing they just don't look over my way probably as much.

Color doesn't make it run any better thus the more unusual, more rare colors of yellow and white do not get as much attention from some potential buyers.    AS long as you are happy over the great find, that is what counts.

Everyone is different, some HD riders I saw with 2 trikes this weekend had probably more into their trike conversion and fancy glittered up special paint job worth more than my entire bike is worth easily.   All they did was drive to the nearest bar having to follow them into town didn't feel like blowing by 4 HD's putzing 50 mph.

I always got A LOT more attention on my Standard than I ever did on the Interstate. NOT having to talk to someone at the gas station is sort of nice for a change...  2funny
