I think that those who seem to think they know what best for us would like us to change all the flags to white for surrender.

First let me say that I agree that forced slavery is a bad thing.  In this country it took place at a time when the requirements of life were much different than they are now.  Could there have been a better way?  Most likely, yes indeed.  Is everything in the past based upon its results to be categorized by us as evil or good and can we do that successfully?  I'm not so sure I can answer affirmatively to that.

Perhaps the offended descendants of the slave population need to consider where they might be today or even if they might be today had their ancestors not been brought to this country as forced labor.

We are what we are.  We are where we are in large part because of decisions and directions that were chosen by someone long before we and out current values existed.  I for one am not ready to condemn Christopher Columbus and the early European explorers based upon what was done to some of my ancestors.  I'm not entirely certain that I would want to live in a world that had not been heavily influenced by those European invaders.  I guess I wouldn't even exist as I am a mix of those who were here and those who forced their way in.

Very logical and well reasoned Carl...I agree with you.  cooldude

...but for some folks it seems they never let a logical and reasoned thought get in the way of their personal agenda's.   That is what all of this is about.   It has nothing to do with flags or anything else, just personal agenda's.
