Yep...... I got a letter they are "extending" the opportunity to request up to 4 Free Gun Locks....
Yep...... There is a form to request them, standard name/address/zip info. They claim the form will be shredded and no documentation of the request after they mail the locks.
Yep...... There is an option to receive them anonymously, by stopping by the Police Office at the local Va Hospital.
Unfortunately I don't have any guns, except 2 nail guns. ;-)

Being as I live alone and there are zero young uns present and it's just me don't need no steenking trigger or gun locks. Mine are ready in a heartbeat. Uh mister or miz robber BEFORE you attempt yer skullduggery would ya give me half a mo to unlock my weapons? Plus if asked at the V A i'll look em straight in the eye and tell them I agree with the obuminater-guns in the hands of law abiding citizens BAD! AND i'll get on the bus quietly and ride out to the camp. B S in B S out. RIDE SAFE.

So, you can request 'em anonymously? Hmmm...
Request the maximum amount be sent to every friend or relative you can con into accepting 'em, and start selling 'em on eBay...

Max of four....but the kicker is you go to the VA Police Bldg/Office in person, show the form letter blank and they will issue. But.....who's to say what ID they may request once you get there. They do say for personal use as well......

Pavalker, I agree with Master Blaster. This looks to be a government ruse or fishing expedition to get info on gun owners. You saw it for what it probably is and took appropriate action. Too bad patriots in this country have to tolerate this stuff.

There are lots of ways to lock up or secure a firearm, using a padlock is way down the list.
You'd have to be a boob to respond to that letter.

Yea, IF, I had firearms, I woul think that having them behind my locked doors, tucked away hidden in a drawer or between couch cushions, or even a safe might be secure enough for the average Joe. But maybe for a thief that intends to break into my house, while I'm even here, maybe I would probably want them readily available for quick access, without having to look for a key to unlock it somehow......otherwise they might have an opportunity to take me out and take more than any firearms I might have. Hmmm, I might have to get the air lines run to the upstairs and a spare air hose to use my air nailer guns upstairs if needed. Maybe look into a battery operated one as well. Is a finish nail gun enough or should I invest in a framing or roofing nail gun?

Is a finish nail gun enough or should I invest in a framing or roofing nail gun? It would depend. Does that finish nail gun have fixed or adjustable sights for precision shots? Better than nails, just get some 12 gauge flechette rounds (though I prefer #4 to OO).
