Scared and smiling about it!

On my way way to work this morning an earthmover pulled across the road in front of the car ahead of me. Not an emergency stop, but it definitely got my attention.
I didn't realize I was in second gear to when I began to resume speed, I twisted the throttle a little too far, too quickly (letting my emotions determine throttle position).
The front end lifted up in the air and thumped back down after I immediately gave it a full release.
All was fine except I was conflicted between being angry that I didn't have complete control of my bike and the excitement of having pulled a wheelie without crashing.
Obviously I did not intend on pulling the front end up; nor do I intend on doing it again.
I'm kind of proud to know the Valkyrie will do it effortlessly but I have always said since the day I bought her, "this Valkyrie has too much power for me to just putt around on like I did on my Nomad. This is a lot more bike than I am a rider"
Oh, I love this bike!  :o

You should try a decent throttle twist in first gear on the new Valkyrie and see how long a rubber mark you can leave........

Thats the only time I even use first gear is when I'm showing off.  Regular driving is 2-4, with fifth thrown in if I'm on the highway for a while.
