Svedka vodka and ice water. Maybe a Little Kings Ale a little latter.

Guess I'm cheap and easily amused.  ;D

I gave up soft drinks about a year ago for health reasons.  :2funny:

Then bourbon, bourbon, bourbon.

Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, Makers Mark and the number one Clyde Mays.

So Britman, please tell me more about this Clyde Mays. We apparently share some of the same affinities as your above choices are ones that I enjoy as well. I have not heard of Clyde Mays until now.

Thanks for the heads up on the Clyde Mays. Had to go a few places to find it but found some for $28. I found it to be surprisingly complex for a moderately priced whiskey.  :cooldude: :cooldude:

Pappy!

Switched it up tonight!

Bombay Gin, fresh squeezed lime juice, and enough honey to keep the pucker factor at bay, in a rocks glass mostly filled with ice. Nice Summertime drink!

Same as most every night: BEER.

“I would not put a thief in my mouth to steal my brains.”  William Shakespheare, Othello; requoted Mattie Ross (Kim Darby), True Grit.

EDIT: I wrongly attributed the quote to Shakespheare. The actual quote from Othello is: "O God, that men should put an enemy in their mouths to steal away their brains!"

Winter is a coming so time to lay in a few bottles to ward off the winter chills.

http://buyingguide.winemag.com/catalog/two-stars-handcrafted-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey

$19.99 at my local "Total Wine"

I found it to be sweet
Female friend found it to be a little astringent.

Then for $10.99

http://www.acespirits.com/southshot-bourbon.html

Nowhere near as full bodied as Clyde May's but for the price.............

Then for $17.99

Watkins Select Maple Bourbon

A good slam of maple in the nose and on the tongue.

Wouldn't want to drink too much of this due to the high sugar content.

Can't find any reviews. It may be new. There were 3 other flavored bourbons from the same supplier.

Only 35% so not too much bite.

Of the 3 I like the Two Stars and the Maple.

The Southshot will be good for mixing.

I nearly bought a bottle of Clyde Mays

http://www.bevnet.com/news/spirits/2015/clyde-mays-whiskey-debuts-special-reserve/

but balked at the $70 price. That's nearly 2 regular bottles and I can't imagine it being much better!!!

I looked for but didn't find

Dave Ritsema, I never did find the Spring Mill Bourbon. Are they still in business?

I did find some Bayou Spicy Rum in Louisiana enroute to GOTF in April. That was pretty good.

If drinking a margarita why an expensive tequila?

That's seems like mixing Coca-Cola etc with a good brown liquor?

Two fingers of Crown Apple tonight....nice and light with no bite.

Either they went out of business or they simply ran out of product. I liked it alot and bummed that I couldn't find anymore.

Since then Clyde Mays or Basil Haydens are my favorites for a moderately priced bourbon.

Something that was a bit of a suprise was Cleveland Whiskey. They have a new process that allows them to make a relatively nice bourbon in 6 months by aging it under pressure with the charred and cut up oak barrels in the pressure chamber. I purchased a bottle expecting it to be really bad and it wasn't bad at all!
