Just rambling along minding my own business on a back road near the house when this dickhead pulled right out in front of me turning right from the T intersection without looking. This has happened several times in the past. Once again luckily no one was using the oncoming lane. So I just rode around this moron close enough to reach out and choke him ,but, I just looked at him and told him what I thought of him and his ancestry. I thought he was about to choke on his cigarette and he kept his distance after that.

About an hour later I was back at that very location releasing some chipmunks when this purple/white monster went rumbling past. I had to step on that Hemi a bit to catch up to it and flash the lights to get him to pull over. I remembered talking to this fella many years ago and he ended up remembering that it was at the local Tasty Freeze. I reminded him of this forum so maybe he'll stop in here once in awhile.

I find this interesting because there just aren't many of these monsters around here.

I guess I'll need to start releasing more if that means running into more Valks. Those critters are taking over the place. I've killed or caught over a dozen this summer.
Anyway this guy had polished his wheels, looks good, guess I have a new winter project.

agree,  not many VAlks in my area as well.  Saw 2 in nearby town and was shocked to see one the past few summers parked downtown in my town of 1200 people.  Meant to stop or hang out to see if local or not, but always do a double take when I see one nearby.  I think saw 4 in the past 5 years or so, very rare indeed.

Any ideas besides mole pellets I have used on how to get rid of those tunnel digging critters.  They destroyed part of my garden digging up the plants and part of my grass in my yard in areas every single year.  I actually a few years ago dug up with the roto-tiller in the spring one of those critters and they are ugly as all sin.  My old time neighbor has used mole traps and even has used a shovel standing over the area for awhile until he sees movement and then rams the shovel in the yard/dirt and has stabbed a few that way.

I only seem to have troubles with grubs and chipmunks. [ Crows are another story] About the only way I know about getting rid of moles, other than digging them out, is with traps. [ those ugly little critters have a nasty bite too]. There are chemicals that kill them too. Either should be able to be had at your local farm store.

About 80 of the little rat relatives committed suicide last year while I was looking thru the pellet rifle scope. They have caused so much damage to my patio and gardens that they got their eviction notices. This year , about a dozen in the traps and 8 suicides. (fresh strawberries in the traps)
No Valkyries were seen in this process.

Holy Crap !   And here I thought I had a lot of those critters.  I've found it hard to find a good bait, the ants seem to find it first. So I just set some sun flower seeds in the traps and wait. Had a Cardinal in one this morning, he was pissed. The pellet gun or .410 works at times too. I seem to always hit something else that I don't want hit with the .410 though.

Spend a couple weeks with my brother and S I L and I can attest to his accuracy with the scoped pellet rifle.  cooldude 1 shot 1 suicidal chipmonk!  Evil The ones in the traps have such a stunned look on their face.  Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.

I am partial to the 5 gallon bucket 1/3 full of water and birdseed to dispose of the PITA rodents. The pellet gun is reserved for long eared  not rodents. Over 500 confirmed suicides last year on 5 properties. A few had bare, long tails and no stripe which did not hurt my feelings at all.

I've been trying that for years, still have 2 buckets out as I type. Everyone else I know swears by this method while I swear at it. I've yet to get a single one of those little critters. Its sure simple enough, but, I can't get it to work.

Chipmunks, squirrels, moles, mice and all sorts of other pesky critters will keep their distance if you have a few "barn cats".   Just in case you don't know, a "barn cat" is one that you feed just enough to keep it coming around but not enough that it won't hunt.    This will even work in the big city but, don't get too close to these cats, you're gonna lose one every now and then.

Some folks will think this is heartless, I was reared in the country, we eat a lot of our pets.  Wink

I live in dairy country.  There are cats everywhere. I get real tired of them 'squirting' on all the buildings and all of their 'night' noises.  I'm trusting/hoping that they are doing their jobs, but, they aren't doing it good enough for me. Maybe thats why our 'monks are so smart.

The five gallon bucket trick.  Use a four inch paint roller smeared with peanut butter. Center it over the bucket on an axle . Make sure it spins freely. Add a ramp for easy access to the above ground swimming pool. About 6 inches of water will be enough. Do not leave life preservers near the pool.
The little rat relatives will jump to the roller and soon ( to late) realize it is a trap. Post a little sign inside that no life guards are on duty and that you swim at your own risk. This avoids law suits from relatives.

PS , pellets are cheaper than 410,s and not near as messy

Hmmm, that a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. The only thing with peanut butter here is that the ants find it before the 'munks. But, I'll give that a try. All I have been doing is the gang plank method with sunflower seeds and those 'monks just don't what to dive in.
