Well, it is Summer, and in the low desert, that means, "get the heck out of Dodge".   Yeah, it's hotter than Hades in Phoenix in July.  But, what better way to beat the heat than a quick tour of Colorado?  So, a local buddy (who may or may not haunt these environs) and I headed in that direction.  There's a lot of backroad between here and there.  I think we only ran about 7 miles on I40 in New Mexico.  The rest was 99% two lane.

Great country, these United States.  No need for a passport.  Just a motorcycle.  We were pretty lucky, but dodged rain around Colorado for three days.  Thought we'd have better luck moving south, so we headed for New Mexico.   (We dodged rain all over northern New Mexico for a couple of days, too).   Raced a massive stormfront from Durango to Taos.  Barely made it.  Were supposed to be camping, but headed for a Super 8.  Sky opened up while we were checking in - 5 minutes after we got off the bikes!

7 days, 1600 miles, just under 50 gallons of fuel, good food (Mom & Pop only).

I'm the other guy sharing the ride. Here's my album. Although it rained almost daily, it was late afternoon rains so riding was excellent.

Needless to say but, I'm envious.   Not of the AZ heat, of the trip.

Nice ride, great photos. Covered most of that part of the Country myself a time or two. I hate to tell you Chandler boys, that at 1384 ft. MSL you ain't in the low desert till you get to Thermal, CA minus 115 ft. msl....

 Grin

Well, it sure feels like the low desert when you're coming back from the Colorado Plateau...

I am jealous.  But hopefully I will be in the Colorado mountains or somewhere North of there in a few weeks.  I may even go to Yellowstone, but I think that will be pushing for me this trip...
