Kasich entered the race for the republican nominee today. As a registered independent I don't get to vote and he may not even be around by the time of the AZ primaries. But I could see this guy getting my vote for president and I hope he is able to make some headway.

Awh...sweet sixteen.  Is there a republican that isn't running for president?

Why would this guy get your vote?

To me he seems more of a straight talker than most politicians. He seems able to work with all sides in an amicable way. He seems even tempered and not hyperbolic. But I've been wrong before.

Kasich accepted the Obamacare poison pill Medicare expansion as governor, I'd never vote for him, even if he were the Republican nominee.

I think I like what Kasich has done with Ohio. He's one of my favorites.

    Not a Kasich fan here.
   1) He among other governors has not found a fair and equitable way to fund education, here in the State of Ohio. To make it even worse, his way to balance the state budget was to take state monies from the schools. So now the schools are cash strapped even more! In turn they come to the property owners for more money more often! Just like my dad told me. When my house is paid off the tax bill will match what my house payment was!
  2) Has done the same thing with cities, municipalities and townships. Reduced state funding to balance the state budget. Mean while these locals have been sent spiraling. No money for infrastructure improvement!
  3) He attempted to do to Ohio what, Scott Walker did in Wisconsin. Eliminate the unions in the public sector. Under the guise of spurring economic growth and put the money where it needs to go. Ask any Wisc. residents how that has worked out? We were able to stave off Kasich on this issue.
  4) As mentioned earlier. Obamacare / Medicaid expansion!
We are in dire need of a third party. Not likely I know but, we need a voice to have the people as there #1 priority. Not big business! Democrats as well as Republicans have lost there way while whoring out there services. We are regressing at an alarming rate with a smile on our face. We are being divided and conquered, and taking it in the a*s and not even asking for a reach around!
So if you haven't figured it out yet, Kasich probably wont get my vote!

I believe that Kasich has been a good Governor for Ohio.  Yes he has made some mistakes, but you have to look at where we were early in his term and where we are now.  He inherited an 8 billion dollar budget deficit and  now we have a 2 billion surplus.  Did some of that come from the Fed in his Medicare decision, of course it did.  Did some of tit come from the school, cities and other local governments, again sure it did.  Did he learn form his loss on the union vote, yep again. The burden to the taxpayer has shifted, but I think the money is better spent locally when raised locally much like the Fed and State budgets. I think that these experiences have put him in a better position to run the country that most of the other politicos in the race.  That said, I don't think he has a chance.

I like Trump talk, but his half success scares me.  I think he will split off and that will get Elizabeth Warren (the ultimate democratic nominee) elected.

We do need a third party. Just now, any third party vote will put the hill on the hill.
I hope and pray its not another "hold your nose and vote thing".

Yes, but he is not a Harvard professor, intellegencia of the world class order.

Personally, I agree with William F. Buckley's 1963 quote:

I am obliged to confess I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University

I like him. He's a pragmatist, not an idealogue. I know most on this site are far right conservatives. I agree with most everything you guys do. Problem is, plenty of people don't. And guess what? They are every bit as much U.S. Citizens as we are. When WE ALL realize the key to good government is finding middle ground or at least striving to find a middle ground instead of constantly fighting eachother, everyone will be better off. EVERYONE. isn't that what we all are striving for? For everyone to be better off?

That's like saying someone is just a LITTLE bit racist, not a member of the KKK...
