New bike will be here next week.  It's black, so I'm very concerned about scratches and swirl marks.
Is Liquid Glass best?  Any concerns that it highlights swirl marks?  How long does it last?  Finally, is there a better option?
Thanks!

Ride it.

Wash it off every now and then.

The more you screw with black paint the worse it may look. Just use a good wax with micro fiber cloth and call it good. Bike paint is typically soft so be careful.

I have a black F6B I used Liquid Glass and it looked great, but this spring I tried Wizard wax and when I was done it was WOW. It eliminates swirls and small scratchy and shines like crazy.

Rule # one, NEVER TOUCH A BLACK BIKE with anything dry. Always WET black down before any thing touches it. Then a good wax with a soft cloth. Nuff said.  Wink

the "WET" is a flood of water !

What is the wizard wax of which you speak? Smiley I have been using LG with OK results, have tried black wax, OK results, the paint on my 1 year old F6B is worse looking than the paint on my 2001 Interstate.

I only use Griot's Garage Machine Polish #3 (haven't tried #4 since it came out) and Best In Show wax on my black car and Valk.

I've been using "Honda Gloss" with good results on the black F6B and then "Protect All" as a detailer between waxings. So far so good.

Bruce, I got some of the Lucas after last time you mentioned it.  I also got the Turtle Jet Black kit.

It's a nice detailer, for a pretty clean bike.  But no substitute for a real wax job.  The Zymol Detailer is also a very nice product.

My paint is pretty weathered and has taken some abuse over 16 years.  A wash and hand rubbed wax job really helps it out.  After that, a detailer or Pledge are OK for quick cleanup (until it gets really dirty again).

I would think you guys with new bikes and soft paint would want to stick with pure carnuba and stay away from cleaner (mild abrasive) waxes.  I need the cleaner wax on my old paint.

You're right Jess, it's not a substitute for a real carnuba wax job, but IMHO, nothing is.  However, for a quick detailer wax, I've found nothing better than the Lucas.  It works, looks deep and seems to really last for the product that it is.

IMO, I think it would work great for the F6B guys.

Liquid Glass at least twice a year (takes me a full day) & Lucas Slick Mist all the other times. I like that you can apply the LG in direct sunlight & the Lucas with the bike wet & shammy dry.
Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash & these two products are all I ever use.

Rejex for me. I love the no-residue application and wet gloss that lasts. I finally threw away all the rest of bottles and cans of other stuff that I collected over the years.

And Bon, it sure is easy to collect a slew of other cleaners over the years. I'm tried a lot of em, including Zymol. I just bought the Liquid Glass but I'm not convinced yet it deserves the high accolades. I put about 3 coats on the new F6b and only used new microfiber cloths. In a couple spots, I can already see very fine lines in the paint. I'd love to find that product that builds to a very hard shell, lasts a long time, and doesn't yellow. Is that too much to ask?  tickedoff Cheesy Roll Eyes

Jess.....I thought you were talking to me...but I think not. I do use Zymol and like it a bunch. Got to stay on top of it when using it but it is good wax.

Thanks to all who responded.  I should have known that asking this question would be a bit like asking 'what oil is best?' Smiley

I now that Liquid Glass has great ratings on Amazon, but I discount those with older bikes.  I'm looking to protect new paint, AND mask swirl marks.  I've read several comments that say it doesn't do as well with the swirl marks.

I think what I really want is 5 coats of clearcoat.  That doesn't fade.  And comes in a spray bottle.  If we can put a man on the moon...

Man, if I could have back all the money I have spent on cleaning/polishing products....
I have a bottle of Rejex, but there is specific conditions for use.   Undecided  Only used it once.

The past few years I have been using Meguiar's Tech Wax and recently Meguiar's Gold Class Quik Wax (spray) between a Real waxing.  Makes my Black bike look wet.
