Well....since you are asking. I've never seen the sense in covering chrome.

It is a grey paint not chrome in this area and I would agree.

Since you're asking, I don't like the gold. (But if you have to have it, then I like it with with black covers)
If the pipes stay bright, I'd keep the valve covers bright (so you have bright pipes, covers, forks and other bits..... for the black and chrome/satin contrast). How about satin covers with a chrome (or black) center?

Having virtually everything on the bike black (or one color) just seems so.....monochromatic....and boring. Do what you like, but I like contrast.....shiny black paint and chrome.

The gold is a very small inlay of a goldwing bird and the accent lines is a very minute area not the entire piece. Meaning not cheesely done nor is it in your face overdone. I hope this helps?? However the amount of the no gold gave me an idea.

So, my opinion is: Do nothing for now. Give yourself some time to think about it. The bike will still be there tomorrow. If every time you look at it you continue to debate the black powder-coat, then maybe you should do it. It's not like you could never find a set of replacement covers if you needed to reverse the process or regretted the decision. Just chill for awhile and to heck with other people's opinions. Do what YOU want to do. No one will fault you for being yourself. Oh, and even if they do, it really doesn't matter what they think anyways, does it? It's your bike, make it YOUR bike! Ride safe!

Jerry, my opinion is Option 1 if you gonna black out the pipes and leave chrome forks, I would put that trim piece in chrome' just a little contrast Option 2 if you gonna leave forks and pipes in chrome, I would Only black out that trim its self and may be polished the covers to chrome finish just to match the rest of the chrome. Option 3 I would use the gold trim if I am ok with a 3 color bike but .. I will have to change the swing arm bolts and any visible chrome bolts on engine in gold and definitely gold rotors and leave the valve covers, pipes and forks all in black that's my two cents

I'm not sure why but I feel that Chrome should be left to the 97-03 Ladies, except maybe the pipes on the new.
