Honda never made a Valkyrie? What would you be riding?

Honda 750cc Magna or possibly a Honda Shadow 1100 or of course a used Wing/F6B which I guess is much like our Valks in so many ways.  Maybe not include the Wing or F6B as well?

I also like looks of the Victory cross country tourer or BMW 1600 which is out of my price range.

Today? No telling... But when I got my Valk, the Valk was actually my 2nd choice, I was aiming for a Suzuki Bandit 1200 when I stumbled into a Honda dealer and they were giving away left over '98 Valkyrie's still in the crate...

I initially thought the Valkyrie was comically huge and silly, but the price was so right I figured what the heck, and the rest... is history...

I don't want to think this way.

Knowing what I know now it would be 1) F6b 2) Full on wing

Back in 2000 I was shopping for a Goldwing. The Valkyrie was too big, too much of a bike for me. But I was wrong. I dove two different Valk's for 15 great years. Now I have a F6B.

I probably would have kept my 1978 KZ 1000A.  It was a great bike, last year for kick start.  It was fast too...until I rode the Mothership for the first time.

1500cc Victory TC Deluxe. That's what I was riding when a friend let me ride his Valk. I don't know if I would have ever moved up, but I was drooling pretty heavily over the Victory Vision. That's probably the bike I'd have replaced the TC Deluxe with if not for the Valk.

Not a V-Twin guy either.
Had a 3rd Gen Magna and loved it (everything but the range).
Once I sell one of the 3 Valks we currently have I will look for a GL1200 naked or a Suzuki GS1100.

Todays bikes?.... probably a CTX1300.

Probably a Royal Star Tour Deluxe.  Water-cooled V-4.  I rode a Royal Star demo bike at Sturgis in 1996 and was impressed by its torque.  Then, possibly the same day, I rode a red and white Valkyrie standard, and immediately knew what I had to have.

One of my buddies has a white one. It's a very nice bike. Not my style but it is a very capable bike.

Probably a VW or Porsche powered Trike from the Trike Shop in Mpls.

When I bought MGM I had a VW from the Trike Shop and also a Harley Full Dresser.

Sold the Trike and traded the Harley straight across for MGM.

Never looked back.

Son has MGM now.

nope, because it was meh...

Seeing the Valkyrie for the first time got me jazzed. Having and riding a
Valkyrie keeps me jazzed.

I like riding motorcycles, but it pretty much has to be as much fun
as riding a CR500 on gnarly single-track in the mountains to live
up to what came before... chasing the Wild Bunch through the
mountains on a water cooled flat six does the trick  cooldude

I would like to get my hands on a cb1000r but I'm probably too old to ride it any long distance and naturally one up only.  I'm sure that would be fun in the mountains?     Single track, I would love to try a KTM 300 two stroke as well as the CR500 however Ill bet the CR500 is either off or on try to enduro it and plugs get fouled up?

I had a 86 yz490 that fouled plugs if you (me anyhow) rode it in the woods.
It was OK on a motocross track, cause you could wring it out more, but I was
never man enough to really "wring out" an open class motocross bike...
I read a whole bunch of stuff about jetting at the time, and re-jetted it
with a much smaller (mid-range? I don't remember...) jet. It quit fouling
plugs in the woods, but if someone who could really "wring it out" on
a motocross track had ridden it, it probably would have blown up  Smiley ...

My 87 CR500 never fouled anything, never missed a beat. It had explosive
power, but was anything but "off or on"... it was "on" period... competitive
enduro and hare scrambles riders would put flywheels on them to make
them less explosive, but I was a fun rider, not a competitive rider...

I wonder how the early 400/465/490 blue Yamaha IT's or later WR500's would have done Ill bet they were good woods bikes with a big kick?

Agreed.

If the Valkyrie had never been built, I would most likely be riding a stripped down Gold Wing.   Not really sure.   As Jim said, the Fat Lady is the answer to my wants, desires and prayers in my motorcycle wants/desires.    Do I wish she had that 1800 + engine and single swing arm?   You bet but, she does just fine with what she's got.

Was just in Lexington and a lady HD rider walked by my Fat Gir three times, on the forth trip by, she stopped and asked me about the fat girl.   We talked for over and hour.   Her son is the manager for the local HD dealer.   She loved the look of my fat girl and even asked if she could climb on board for a test fit.    She said, "That's the sexiest bike I've seen in a long time."     I just smiled.   Wink
