I was following this car on 327 north. 327 is a rolley curvy secondary highway. The driver was varying the speed between 35 and 50 mph and was weaving. Probably not a 'drunk' maybe not even a cell phone use, only a bad driver, I don't know.
327 intersects with highway 6,a very busy highway. The car turned left on 6 and gunned it. I followed as I needed to jog back onto 327 north. Ahead ,just before the right turn lane for 327 there was a semi with a flat bed trailer completely stopped in the westbound lane, brake and left turn lights were on.
I don't know where the driver was looking but just before he hit the ass end of the flat bed, his brake lights came on for a fraction of a second. I have no idea of his speed but the back of the trailer jumped about a foot into the air (duals and all!) and the car bounced back. I was back far enough no problem. As i drove the Miata past in the right turn lane, (past and around all the broken parts) the car was crumpled back to the windshield. I did not stop as the truck driver seemed ok and a lumber yard was directly across the street. Frankly I had to pee plus I wasn't about to be called into trying to get the driver out. I'm not a medic any more and too old to bend metal. As i turned onto 327 nothing but steam from the site.
Now if that flat bed had been a motorcycle it would've been just another rider or two wiped out by an inattentive driver.
I've returned from my drive and I've called the state police about witnessing, if needed.
Coming back from my drive on the interstate, with the top up, people ignore the Miata so I feel right at home, yeah, right.

I was way back behind him and went past after things were stopped.
Btw, I was looking to see if it was on the news (it wasn't) but a motorcyclist died when he ran into the median of I65 yesterday while he was texting.

I don't know.
There are laws on drinking and texting, etc. Some people know of them but ignore them.

Aside from rendering any aid (which always involves a degree of risk, from many angles), an accident like that speaks for itself regarding how it happened and who is at fault. A third grader could figure it out.

On my way up to Glenwood MN for the VRCC Ride In last Friday, I came across a bad accident. It was at the intersection of MN-4 North bound and MN-19 East bound near Fairfax. What appeared to be a small SUV entered the intersection, hopefully after a required stop, and had been tee-boned by an Eastbound semi and pushed sideways into a pole. There was nothing left of the vehicle. When I arrived, the local fire department was routing vehicles around the scene. I have not been able to find any further information on-line. If one can ignore a semi, they can certainly ignore a motorcycle.
Safe travels out there...

As an ex semi driver driver of semi MIGHT be held accountable for SOMETHING. Had my fair share of inattentive drivers no matter what I've been in or on. Generally speaking tangling with a semi is much like tangling with a train-if yer in a cage or on a M/C you LOSE. Far more distractions available to anybody these days as opposed to even 25 years ago. RIDE SAFE.

Glad you were well aware of your surroundings and far enough back not to get into the mess. Far, far too many times people tailgate ( I usually do not) and are less than 1 car length behind the driver in front - stupid!
I've seen one pretty much head on collision both coming at each other around 60 mph from my backyard on the hwy., don't want to see another. Instant death for one in the ford fusion (what was left of it) and the rolled over ford pickup truck med-flighted after the jaws of life ripped the truck apart to get him out a few hours later. Scared the crap out of me so much darn near literally I jumped up at least 6" off the ground after hearing the collision.

The truck driver of course will be found at fault.
