I could play with trimming belt with my fingers. So dirtydans run ends at 190k.....w ell. The 97 red and white ends at 190k. Got another valk on the way picking it up tomorrow the journey Will continue

You said you took out lots of wildlife with that bike in it's 190k, including the recent deer. Rocks. Don't. Budge.

It smashed it up enough. If my bike was in better shape I might think different but I'm looking at 1000s to fix it and she is old. Then holing up in hotel till its fixed. Replacement being picked up tomorrow 26k miles. I knew my valk was old had my money ready for another one. I knew it was going to happen just not how n when. Now I do. With my multiple sclerosis acting up this is a speed bump in life

Ps .
The rock was never seen or found. Either by me before or after impact. Walked back to where I hit it nothing at all.
The local sheriff. Could not find any trace either. He was surprised. For what its worth

Dammit Dan that is bad news
You going to save the 4 saddlebags to put on the new bike and will it be another standard? That is a heck of a way to avoid the yearly Valk cleaning, glad you are ok to ride still
Never did identify what knocked my Valk rear tire out either, Gman says it was a squirrel but I never saw one just knew it hit my leg and went under the bike
See ya down the road ! Post a pic of the new bike

Yeah I think you got about every last mile out of it. Could probably sell stuff like the tank and such. But I don't know how you'd do it being on the move all the time though.

Totaled? Does that mean the insurance company bought it from you or just that you decided not to fix it? 190K is only the beginning for a Valkyrie.
How much damage by the rock?
Glad you're okay. Keep on traveling.

Timing belt exposed touch it with your fingers. Engine case in pieces. She was ran about a mile and a half after the hit. No collision insurance. If I spend a boat to fix that I still got an old beat up bike.for a little more I'm picking up a black 99 with 26 k tomorrow. So it looks like parts

... Engine case in pieces. ... No collision insurance. I understand. The replacement will serve you well. For what it's worth Valkyrie engines are a dime a dozen. You see there are some of us that ruin the frames and such while the engine is still in good shape.

glad you are o.k. and the Valk is being replaced with newer and better for many more (s)miles to come.
I almost bit the dust twice tonight coming home around 11:30 p.m. from work. I locked up both brakes when a very large coyote crossed the road in front of me just trotting along. Then, a few miles up the road, I thought I saw a dead critter directly in my path, until at the last minute swerving around it that it started to MOVE in my direction. Missed whatever it was by a mere 1 foot at most doing 55 mph lifting up my left foot since feared I would for sure hit it if it moved 1 more foot my way heading toward the ditch. It was the size of a long stretched out beaver the size of a small otter, but was odd shaped, wasn't going to head back in the dark to find out what it was. Sort of creeped me out since the biggest thing, so far, I ran over was a chipmunk hit that sucker dead on flattened like a pancake with rear tire. That also matches my raccoon and opossum and skunk outings as well coming home at night in the dark missing them as well by mere feet at most.
I like night driving, but not so much the critters that come out all over in rural farmland country.
At least I almost always remember to bring my prescription glasses along since at night, everything is pretty fuzzy looking without them.

I'm a bit challenged posting pics on road, I partial to storing her short term and exploring my. Options.
The left side engine guard is smashed, fender is creased, tank dented, windshield dinged, both mirrors ripped off, headlight banged up, blinker got it too, foot peg cover, rear blinkers tapped n zip tied
And I need a new exhaust system
And something else is starting to groan don't. Know what yet
Ps intermittent coolant leak, oil dipstick
Off the top of my head
So it would cost a fortune to restore it, as I see it
Dan
Oh one more thing my seat is ripped

That was a magic rock. Did all that damage and then disappeared. Sounds like the bullet that hit both Kennedy and Connally in Dallas.

Happy that you are in one piece. I'm preparing to go back to Arkansas in Sept., first time since my get off there last year. If you're in the area, the old guys are gathering at the Hub the 14th for the Romeo Rendezvous. I enjoyed your company the last time you were there, for the VOAI ralley. Hoser

It takes a pretty bad ass bike to smash a rock into dust but yours just did it. I'm glad you weren't thrown off or anything. Keep on rollin when you get the new bike all packed. R.I.P. red and white.

Heck, between those and the chrome sidecovers he might raise enough funds to pay for the new bike!

Dan your one of a kind. The bike dies, get another one and the never ending ride goes on. Wonder if there's a VRCC member near you that is willing to store your old bike. Give a call when you back home, we'll get a beer.
