Does anyone know the weight of the engine only for a Valk, We are going to tear one down and trying to establish the weight of the engine with the frame. Can 3 small guys lift it into a pickup?
Thanks

I think it's going to be hard to get an accurate weight of the engine with the frame. My GUESS would be about 400-450 lb. but it's just a guess.

This discussion reminds me of my wife's birthday. She told me she wanted something sitting in the garage that would do 0 to 200 in under a minute. So, on her birthday she stepped on into our garage and there it was. A bath room scale. And that my friends is how the fight started.

Just so you know, the complete head weighs 23 pounds, so 46 pounds in just the heads.

From my notes in doing some comparisons twixt the Valk and GL1800: Per 1994 GL1500 Shop manual, the 94SE model had an engine weight of 278 lbs. Sorry, but I do not know what engine bolt-ons it includes, or not... And from a road test (that I have seemingly misplaced ...) the GL1800 engine is 6 lbs lighter.

My '97 to '03 manual says engine dry weight is 262 pounds. I have to assume that is without the carbs and other things that aren't integral to the engine itself.

I put one in the trunk of the VW minus starter and alternator by myself. FYI , a dis-assembled Valk will fit in a VW Jetta.
