I went to Tampa today to what we hams call a hamfest, kind of like a yard sale for Amateur Radio gear.  On the way home I took 52 W from I-75 to I think it was Bellamy Brothers Rd N to Brooksville to help a friend with a project.  Beautiful road but I was in the truck so didn't get to fully enjoy the views.

If you can make the time and can make the trip let us show you some old Florida Gems in that area.

Come up and run mondon hill to weatherly rd to croom. Then jump over to 476 and turn onto instachatta. Follow that the back way to gobbler. Fun lil jaunt. Right by my house lol i love it.

Oh and I found a couple of love bugs yesterday too.  The rain near Ocala washed them off though.

Yep, found about half a doz of the little buggers committed suicide on the bike windshield when I got back home yesterday.

Lived in Brooksville for 17 years. One of the things I can say about Hernando Co. is there is some good riding there. I used to live on Weatherly right at the first 90° turn off of Mondon Hill. Also lived at the end of Pine Cabin Rd. in a house which is now gone absorbed by the Southern Hills development. Spent a few years living on Yontz Rd. & used to own 8.1 beautiful acres on Old Crystal River Rd. almost to 476 with the first wife. Divorce forced sale. There is also nice riding in the areas near the rock mines & the ride out to Bayport/Pine island is nice too. Aripeka into Pasco Co. is a great ride.

Lol i grew up terrorizing aripeka on my dirt bikes and atvs. Used to love that place. Many great years learning to shoot, ride, fish, scuba etc all out there off the bridges and in the mines. The place is a hole now...beyond what it was. Nothibg but pill heads and thieves out there and the mines have closed up most of the good water ways off in the back.

I used to go out to what became Oman Construction mining operation weekly as part of my sales route. The guys there used to take me out on tours of their ponds & equipment placements. I left Brooksville in 1987 & have lost track of what happened in that area. Used to ride "Croom" long before it became a cordoned off riding area, riding straight from the house.
