So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: August 26, 2015, 11:39:10 AM »

I have an idea and to bring this idea to fruition, I need a drawing of a Valkyrie.   One showing the outline of the bike and some details but, nothing as detailed as Oz's art work.    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yep, appreciate the assistance.   Already found a couple like that.   I should have provided more information.   Looking for one sitting at  45 degree angle front to back.

I'm not an artist in the least but, my idea is to get the right drawing and then transfer it to a overhead projector and trace it out (so to speak) on the back of my RV/Toy hauler.   Just kind of a statement from me to the world.  Wink

Edited:  Please remember, I have a hard time staying between the lines in a youngster's coloring book so this will have to be pretty easy.

Hit the 3D button on the bottom of the list and you can rotate the image. Print it out, I think that might work. But you might need to make an account on that website.
Cool idea.

Yeah, I looked at that but, those drawings are way more than I can copy to the back of my RV/Toy Hauler.   Remember, you're talking to one of the three stooges as it applies to art.

An option could be to take it to a place that does signs and car wraps. If it's a small picture it might not cost a lot of $$.
Just trying to help.

Here you go.  (keep in mind, crayon will wash off)  Grin

Any Valk iteration is going to be artfully challenging.

You could order a stencil, and hit it with a rattle can.

Thanks, I like this one best of what I've seen.   In reference to the stencil idea or having a sign painter do it well or having a wrap made, that's just not in the budget but, I'll continue to work on this idea.   Thanks for the suggestions.    cooldude

One should also be aware that the back of the RV/Toy Hauler is (estimating here) about 7 1/2 feet wide and close to 8 feet tall.   This is going to be a rather large drawing.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried taking a picture of your valk with your phone and then modifiying it?  my phone allows me to turn a photo into  a 'pencil drawing' (or turn it into a 'vintage' photo etc)

No, I haven't, didn't know that was an option.   What Kind of phone do you have.   I just got a Iphone5S.   I'm still learning to use it.

Have you thought about a maiden head graphic and maybe some text?
Anyway, when you find something you like, I can probably produce it for you if you want. I'll try to be easy on ya. Wink

Sir,
I've considered a lot of options and would consider many things but, as I previously said, my budget is very limited.   But, be looking for a PM, one never knows if one doesn't ask.

If you can find an overhead projector (remember them?), you can project your line drawing onto the hauler (in a dim garage!) and carefully sketch the lines, or use painter's tape. Then, once the design is placed with tape and the rest is masked, spray away!

My father was a sign painter. He'd project the logo or picture or whatever onto
a big piece of brown paper, moving the projector closer or further away to get
the image the right size.

Then he'd sketch the image onto the paper.

Then he'd use a "pounce wheel" to turn the sketch into perforated lines:

Then he'd place the paper onto the sign in the right place and use a sock filled with
black carbon dust and beat it over the holes in the paper to transfer the image to the sign.

Then he'd remove the paper and paint the image onto the sign using the faint image
left behind by the carbon dust as a guide.

Love that photo. Good thing cell phones weren't around then, that picture would probably be gone.
We had a layout easel exactly like that when I first started working for a billboard company 35 yrs. ago. That building even looks just like it Shocked
