Trish and I will be riding down to WingDing on the Goldwing to visit with some out of state friends and to ride in the mountains. Can get a little dangerous with so many bikes in one area. Wish our schedule allowed us to ride with you guys on the meet in the middle ride but going to visit family after WingDing and ride thru TN and WV on the way home.

Thought about going but, two things happened.   First, I got a chance to take a paying trip to Florida and secondly, I don't have a matching outfit for any co-pilot.  Wink

If fairness I did attend one when I was a member.  They don't even serve beer at those.  I, not jokingly, thought they were going to call the police when I pulled up drinking one which is legal in the city the event was in.  That pretty much ostracized me from the event.

I've heard talk that next years will be in Billings MT.

Looking forward to a reason to head that way again with more time and to see more of what I missed.

Hmm, well OK.

Billings has some beautiful scenery but, travel and time constraints could greatly effect attendance.
Just my opinion.   It all depends on where you're coming from.

I rode the Valkyrie over to a giant Wing gathering (wing ding? ida know...) at the
convention center at Greenville, SC, a few years ago. People were nice, I got a few
thumbs up on the Valkyrie, but it cost a million dollars to get into the vendor area,
and there was reportedly nothing in there for Valkyries, even several years ago...

Stopped at the WingDing to look the venders over. But didn't go in, can you believe it cost $22. to get in to spend your money? To bad.

Been here since Thursday, having great time. MS drill team performed today, they were awesome, only been a formed team 5 months. I've known everyone on the team for years and very proud of their performance.
Have seen some great Valkyries here too. I'm not on mine this time, had to ride the wing this time.
Several years back in Ft Wayne won 1st place stock class on my '97 green & cream tourer.

Wish you were here.

Trish and I were there on Thursday and Friday and had a really good time.  Very different kind of rally than InZane, but WingDing can be a lot of fun.  We bought a 2 day pass for 30 dollars each. Would have liked to stay until Sunday and bought a few tickets for the New Goldwing they are giving away at the end of the Rally on Sunday afternoon, but had to leave Saturday morning to visit with family in Kentucky.  We picked up a few things for the Wing and ordered a new Diamond Custom seat for our Valkyrie.  Would have been nice to see the MS drill team.  I've seen NC drill team several times and they are very impressive.

Home from Wing Ding
9200 attendees
I didn't win the new anniversary Gold Wing grand prize, but had a good time.
The rally will be in Billings, MT next year. I just may have to go.

Every WD.....The next year location is announced, we actually knew a few weeks ago before this rally.

That's so unpleasantly believable.  If that was a factual statement, it may be the only reason I'd buy another Harley.

I was a member of GWRRA years ago.....on a trip to the West coast one time I thought I would pop into their headquarters down in Phoenix to say hello...as I knew I was going I took a bunch of T shirts with me from the UK Goldwing Owners Club...

We got a tour of the building and met everyone, I gave out T Shirts as we went round. All in all a nice afternoon...

Time for us to go so I ask if there is any chance of a GWRRA T shirt....sure was, we could buy one on the way out.........

Guess what, I didn't re-join....

I think what really keeps that whole organization going is that it's made of mostly retired people who have nothing to do but spend money on/within the organization.  I just can't get into an "all gear, all the time" type club.  No one there seems to really "have fun" except by riding a Goldwing in full gear pulling a trailer.  I thought it might be a worthwhile thing to join, but it turned out it's simply not my kind of crowd.

I was at one in the same location a few years back... when I got my Roll a home (3 years?)- delivered to the wing ding.

Got in for free - as I was picking up the trailer.

Des wanted to buy my Valkyrie... I ended buying a seat instead. I did have to tow the roll a home with Something after all.

There were a few vendor that had SOME parts for the Valk...not many for certain... but some.

I joined when I first got the valk. I was a freak and quite unwelcome.
Tammy dressed up all hot like at the last meeting we went to and got some looks from the grandpas, and some "looks" from the grandmas.
I love her so much.

I got some of that... but mostly... nice Valk!

They looked when I fired her up (in doors) to pull the trailer out the back....there was no question I was running!
