Good evening. I'd like to get a cover for my 99 Standard. It has bags and an aftermarket trunk.

I like the Dowco Guardian covers. Does anyone have one of these covers, and what size is it? I had an XL for my 82 GW, and it fit well. I don't want to get an XXL for the Valk and have it swimming on it. Also, I think they make a cover with a zipper down the back. That might be nice to have.

Thanks...

I have a Woodys fairing, hard bags and occasionally, a trunk.

Packs light and small.  I have two of them....full cover and a half cover.  Highly recommend.   cooldude

I also have the E-Z Touring  cover.  I have a '98  Tourer ,  The Wanderer  full cover  size X and their Traveler half cover size X both fit great, light weight, pack small, come with a storage bag and you can choose your own colors.

Check out their website, it's a real nice product.

My Guardian is an XXL, and it fits my bike with 22" shield & aftermarket trunk or my GranTour luggage rack pack great.  Might be too big without the trunk.  Don't get the one with the zipper on back.  It was convenient when it worked, but mine couldn't handle the UV and broke.  Now it's covered up with duct tape.

My experience is, if the bike will be under a cover all the time and has to go on and off to ride every time, all the elastic on a tight fit is a big PITA, and a size up make things much better.  If it will only get used on occasion, then a tighter fit is OK.  Zipper seems like it might scratch things.  Also, if you get full size, make sure it has muffler guard fabric,  or you must wait for it to cool off before sticking it on.

There's a newer stretchy cover that I found interesting but have no exp with.  Supposedly OK to trailer with it... all others will shred.  http://www.gezagear.com/faqs.htm

I have the dowco on my tourer. Had it for 15 yrs. XL I believe. I also have a 100% waterproof one I carry on trips. Not sure of the brand. I also have a 1/2 cover in the saddlebag. Custom made outta texas for valks. Since I have the batwing he gave me one for a HD. Real nice guys to talk and work with.

I have a classic accessories motogear in black on my Valk I/S, the touring size (guessing XL).

Excellent fit and finish has heat shields for pipes and scratch coating where windshield fits so as to not scratch, etc.  For 50 bucks hard to beat very heavy duty and won't fly off in heavy winds.

I went cheap & was pleasantly surprised at how good a cover this is!
Heat shields, tie down grommets, soft cloth for windshield, vented....
Only thing I added was 2 coats of Kiwi Camp Dry, 4 hours apart. Not 100% waterproof but close. Had it a year now without a rip or tear.
This one is very easy on & off.
I use it daily & will buy again cooldude

Excellent responses. Just what I was looking for. I just talked to a friend that has an XL like my old one. He's bringing it over this weekend. I'll give it a shot and report back.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Make sure you get one with "GOLDWING" printed on it.  That way, no one will mess with your Valkyrie.  Smiley  Heard this a long time ago.

I also think a light color (silver) is a much better choice than black, for obvious reasons if it will sit in sunlight and high temps much (oven roasted motorcycle, hoses, vacuum lines, seats, yada).

I was just looking at these Giza Gear stretchy covers again, and realized they are made local to me in Chantilly VA, so I may drop in and have a look sometime.  I have a softball sized (when packed) super light weight, silver half Dowco for $40 that goes on all trips and it is perfect, and a giant black full size Nelson Rig that came with one of my bikes I have never used (my bikes live in a bike shed), about the same size as my packed HD rain gear (though lighter).  So I don't really need another, but this looks intriguing, and the reviews say these thing last a really long time, unlike most covers used regularly.  They should last, they are spendy.

I'm using a Nelson Rigg cover. I think I have the XXL and it's plenty big for my Standard with windshield and bags. It would easily accommodate your set up with a trunk.

What ever it is that Wally Wurld sells in X L. Silver and blue and no logo showing. I have 3 flags mounted to the package rack on my I/S and the cover ALMOST covers most of the trunk with the flags left on. I'm going to purchase the X X L and see what happens If I DID NOT have those flags mounted it would cover the I/S very nicely. When rolled up the entire package is a little smaller than a 1 quart milk jug.  RIDE SAFE.

Can you cut holes in it for the flags?

Just use your old underwear. "Flag" holes are pre-cut (men's style only).
The elastic stretches nicely to fit any bike  cooldude
