Just got back from part one of a Patriot Guard Mission for an Airman Killed in Action from the unit I used to be in at Hurlburt Field.  There were close to 100 bikes to escort his hearse from the base to the funeral home.  In a couple days we will escort him to the cemetery too.  We weren't allowed on the base because the base was under lockdown...the idiot Westboro church had threatened to try to get on the base and disrupt the mission.  That's the whole reason the PGR was conceived, and the first time the protesters threatened to show up in this area that I know of.  We didn't see any of them

This is looking back from my bike

this is looking forward from my bike

My bike (of course)

I'm not one to go around wishing bad things upon people but I wouldn't lose any sleep if that whole "church" and members would mysteriously go missing. They shouldn't even be able to call themselves a church, more like a cult.

We haven't heard anything out of those bozos for quite some time, I thought they had quit the funeral business.

It's too bad the base relied a mere statement they were coming to lock everyone else out.  I count that as a partial win for them for nothing but a phone call.  Though I understand Hurlburt is not your average Base.

All the local motels should be notified.

Thanks for showing up, and for the report.

Is this the back-story?

Good turn out Chris.  cooldude Happy so many turned out to honor the Hero. Since westboro's leader died they haven't been in the news much. About 2 years ago I missed the bikers protesting westboro. RIDE SAFE.

I couldn't really read the article, but it appears to be an earlier incident involving two airmen.
