Do they REALLY think that they can trust them?  I don't.  Your boy and Rand Paul just lost any credibility that they might have had.

That is EXACTLY what they both said....that they want to take a wait and see attitude to see what happens in 18 months.

I don't think we can afford to wait 18 months to see what the Iranians are going to do.....I think we already know.  They want to wait and both IMO are pacifists.

Well maybe we are splitting hairs here. But saying that they will see how the Iranians implement the agreement is not the same as trusting the Iranians.

Ok, for me, Kasich, Bush and Paul are out.

Trump is getting out classed on foreign topics and defense.

I feel sorry for Huckabee, he's trying to get points out but for some reason can't get good camera time.

Rubio , Carly, Christie and Cruz are growing on me.

Rubio and Carly are serious about their foreign policy.

Christie can be tough if given enough air time.

Cruz is smart but not what I consider to exude presidential stature.

Carson is out for me...he's smart, but not presidential.

I love our country - but I share his sentiment about politicians. There was a time not too far back that my only regret about a bomber taking down the capital during a joint session of Congress would be for the historical building itself - not the members of Congress / their staffers/ etc.

I agree with some of your assessments. But Cruz has his nose so far up Trumps ass I'm afraid he's going to walk over and start dry humping him. Fiorina is doing VERY good IMHO.

I think CNN was the big loser.  They practically ignored most of the lower candidates, not giving them much time.  Also, most of their questions were designed to pit one against the other, rather than get opinion of how to solve a problem.

ie, asking Bush what he thought about what Trump said about a subject, vs asking Bush how he would solve that problem.  Seemed like they were more interested in ginning up confrontations, than in getting answers to problems.

It will be interesting to see if in the Dem debates, they do the same thing, i.e. pose the vast majority of questions aimed at pitting one candidate against the other, vs addressing the issues.

Anyone want to bet that they will NOT, at least to anything approaching what they did tonight?  I bet their questions are posed as addressing the Repubs position, vs against each other.

Any takers?

For me  Carly F. , Rubio and Christie came across as knowing what to do day one
Fiorina knew what is needed for our military and minced no words and did not take bait to lower herself
I liked what I saw from her

I went into the night wanting Kasich to show me what he could do but beside saying he can work with people, which was Trump's tagline with no details I didnt get it

Cruz is a clear constitutional scholar but I didnt get the impression he should lead, Maybe make him Attorney General or a Justice of S Ct

I gave Bush points for being transparent and wished there was more of :"what I will do " between him Huckabee and Kasich and Christie as the former governors.

The entertainer question was bullshit  Reagan was an entertainer

Some thoughts after seeing the whole thing and reading through the posts here;

The focus on Trump by the debate moderators was to get him out in the open and expose his weaknesses. I did not like his answer to the question of bad guys that by the time he got to office he would be up to speed on foreign issues and terrorists.  His constant rant on how he has created his wealth and can negotiate his way out of trouble doesn't cover everything necessary to be POTUS.

He reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield in the movie  "Back to School" where Rodney had his business minions doing his school work.

Rubio and Fiorina had excellent opinions and were quick with answers regarding national defense, Russia and terrorists.

My "problem" w/ Rubio is, to me he looks way too young. I don't know his age, but for some reason he looks like a kid.

As for Carly Fiorina, NOT that I don't want a woman for POTUS, but after Obama's double term (some say because he is black, a great BS'er and got tremendous #'s from the black community) can the USA go the route of another "minority" back to back without looking foolish on the world stage and how many world leaders (especially Middle Eastern) will take her seriously.

Huckabee knows his stuff, he would probably be an excellent President but he's not going to get there. He is too mild mannered, I loved his response when he said "Doesn't anyone remember civics class?" He reminds me of everyone's favorite uncle; a great guy, smart, friendly, outgoing, would give a strange the shirt off his back, in Church every Sunday...etc etc.  I actually feel bad for the guy. I thinks he really knows and UNDERSTANDS the Constitution.

As for Christie, he wanted to get to the debate last night, he wanted in the fight for air time and to get his thoughts, ideas and opinions out there, I liked that. I also like the fact he can laugh at himself one minute and be dead serious the next. His style of talking to the people in TV land and letting us know he would be there for us. Don't care for his stance on marijuana, it's no longer a "gateway" drug. Mom and dad's pills are IMO. Christie could be a good president.

Dan

That's a good point of who Rodney was in that movie, he was a business man, he knew the in's and out's of the business world, just like Trump and his usage of the bankruptcy laws for his business.  it was apparent last night Trump is not up to the level of Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina, Christie, Huckabee, Paul and others on The Constitution. This was out in the open when they were discussing anchor babies and he kept imploring how "He was told by scholars the 14th Amendment was not meant to be interpreted that way".

I like Trumps thoughts and ideas on immigration, healthcare and labor, but he is weak on other issues.

Uh... I said they are 2 completely DIFFERENT circumstances. With the republicans we have a leading candidate who has been attacking from day one. With the democrats we have candidates who have largely refrained from personal attacks. This puts a completely different dynamic on the questions moderators ask.

Well you might be right. I don't know if there is behind the scenes attacks of each other. But you've got to admit compared to what Trump has been doing with his fellow candidates, the democratic candidates look like choir boys. And that's fine. I'm just pointing out that moderators of debates are naturally going to ask different questions because of this.
