Is there an easy way to determine if a Valk is a Calfornia bike or a 49 state bike?
I read that the cams are stamped "R2" if CA.
Do any of the labels tell?

The easy way.
The motorcycle VIN # will tell you what you need to know.

Here is the chart for reference. Depends on the model/year of the Valkyrie.

Wow! Good info! Thank you!
Also, good to know my IS is a 49'er (SC410).

doesn't matter, all '98 49 state have calif cams, I checked mine, I have a 49 state '98. according to the last dyno runs done by magazines of '99s I believe they all have calif cams also. easy to take the left valve cover off, manually turn the engine over to see the stamp. the only way to know.
