"AN ARMED SOCIETY IS A POLITE SOCIETY"

Here's a link to the local news. Another motorcyclist murdered by a drunk driver. Why was this scum still on the road? This country (and state) needs tougher drunk driving laws. I'm all for second chances. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a fair chance to turn their life around, but this is getting ridiculous. One DWI, you pay your fine, do your time, learn your lesson. Second DWI, you lose your license forever. Period. And if you're caught driving after your second offence, you get charged as a repeat offender and locked up for awhile....a LONG while. The victims in this case were my work partner's brother and his girlfriend. A tragedy...  :'(

The same should apply to those on cell phones and texting while driving.
Keep the idiots off the road. They don't deserve a second or third chance.
Not often it's the motorcyclists fault when hit by a driver. I see too many
beating a red light while making a turn at an intersection. Wait a second
after you get a green and watch for these jerks.
Hope all going for a ride today have safe ride.

These accidents are always such a shame. I knew Lester as he was a mechanic at a local GM dealership.
That clown that killed Lester and his girlfriend is a real POS and I'd like to see the death sentence for him[ and I no longer believe in the death sentence].
There have been way too many bike riders killed in this area lately, probably the reason why I've become so anal and adding/changing lights on the bikes recently.

This turds license was already pulled. Just because a license is pulled doesn't mean the turds won't drive-or drink-or kill somebody.  Cry Sorry for your loss and the loss to the community. The truly sad part a lot of this behavior is accepted as okey dokey. Joe lost his license and he still drives to work and the bar and the store etc etc-chuckle chuckle. Mary lost her license and you still see her car every night at the bar and she shows up at work in her car with a hangover. chuckle chuckle. As a professional driver I saw WAY too cursed much distracted driving. As a M/C rider trying desperately to stay alive I STILL see too cursed much distracted driving. I apologize for the rant BUT this hits too cursed close to my heart. Another bro and sis I never knew!  Cry May they forever R I P.  angel RIDE SAFE.

Absolutely the same criminal laws should apply to texting drivers.

A good man and a good lady are gone because of this POS.

I can mention it now.  Although there was a combination of factors that influenced me to stop riding, this was one of them that kept coming up in my mind..  Over the years I tried to read and put into practice all of the tried and true things to stay out of trouble.  There is absolutely no way I could prepare for either drunk drivers or distracted drivers texting.

Prayers to the family.

Very sad  Cry

I hope all understand that anyone who saw this man and allowed the drinking and the problems in his life share some of the responsibility.

Some responsibility goes to the law makers and judges.
I sent an article of a man arrested for his 12th offense to my state senator and asked him how this can happen.  Suspended license, fines and ignition interlock devices don't work.
Months latter I got a form letter that listed what the punishments  are for each offense.

Its my understanding this POS had a court order to have a BAIID in his vehicle, but did not. I still think he deserves to hang and I'd buy a ticket.

First D U I 5 year $15000.00 fine-you do all 5 years. And you get to pick up trash 6 days a week no matter the weather. 2nd D U I 25 years you do all 25 years plus you get to make little rocks out of big rocks 7 days a week no matter the weather.  3d D U I life with no parole. If you kill anyone while driving drunk automatic life sentence no parole and make little rocks out of big rocks 7 days a week 15 hours a day no matter the weather. Even if you are sober and you kill someone with a motor vehicle life with no parole. The wrist slaps have got too stop. The molly codling has got too stop. Mom and Dad told me when I got my first drivers license-it's a PRIVILEGE-NOT a right. What in the hell is keeping the judicial system from enforcing laws that are already on the books? An honor student texting and killing some one when driving is just as guilty as the drunk driver killing some one while driving a motor vehicle. So consequently the same punishments should/must follow. Scuse my rant but I am TRULY tired of reading about folks being killed by drunk drivers and or folks on cell phones or he like. RIDE SAFE.

In Olds first post it says it all. Especially In big cities it's damn near impossible to keep track of this. Small towns a little easier because you know these types of people. AS LONG AS THEY ARE OUT OF JAIL THEY WILL DRIVE, and there is no way of stopping them weather they are texting, straight, stoned, drunk or otherwise. These types of people are driving a 3000 lb weapon. "Used to be" Third offense and you went to prison. Now it's a "don't do that again" slap. Kinda the way all discipline goes anymore.  Sad

Only court judges that have had a personal lose understand the seriousness of this crime, and only then do they impose the maximum penilty   I have always believed the proven guilty get off way to easy with very little punishment and the victims have no recourse, the court system sucks and gives way to much protection to the guilty ass holes..... Just my opinion

I can't believe after murdering two people, trying to run away from the scene, and all his priors and other charges (driving without a license, without a breath interlock, etc.) this asshole gets a measly $25k cash / $50k bond bail set. WTF is WRONG with people? The judge responsible refuses to answer or be interviewed. The family is beside themselves and people who live in the area are genuinely concerned this vermin will get out and do it again.  tickedoff

I'll expand on my last statement.  The implementation of said guillotine would remove the ability of said felon from operating said motor vehicle (or committing any other crime) again.  I also believe that the application of this deterrent device in a public setting would give others a pause to contemplate their behavior and adjust it so that they may not suffer a similar fate.

A lesser form of punishment would be reintroduction of the stocks so that the lawyers (lawyers and judges are in each other's pockets we all know) would not be screaming that the application of a death sentence would be too harsh for the poor darlings.  We could call it "Puritan Sharia Law".                   I'd go for that. tickedoff
