It was a really nice day the first day with no rain in awhile and even the temp was down just a bit. So I decided to go to Miami and South Beach. Most of it is hwy and they have the car pool lanes you pay for but they are nice on the weekends because most don't use them and so you are pretty much riding without traffic on 95. A1A in Miami beach is one block west of Ocean drive and that is such a beautiful ride up through Miami. It saves taking 95 north there is lots to see, traffic can be pretty bad but usually you don't mind because of the people watching.

Miami sky line from 395 heading east

One of the new buildings going up in Miami, the sky line has sure changed some of the most contemporary buildings are being built

One of the mansions in Miami on the water of Miami bay. This was for rent a few years ago for 28k a month. Little Palm and Star Island are not far from this place and the houses start at 5 to 6 million. Gloria Estafan has a house on Star Island I believe.

One of the restuarants in Miami on Ocean drive. If you were sitting under the umbrellas you would be looking toward the beach when you were not looking at the people walking.  Wink Passed by the Verschi mansion and was going to go in but didn't want to stop riding

If you want to take a drive down ocean Blvd then click on the link below kind of a tour with music and a short of the beach.

Robert, that area sure has changed in the last 20 plus years. It was at least that long ago I was sent there on assignment working on a joint State/Federal task force, probably wouldn't even recognize any of it today. When I was there the So. Beach area was just nicely getting going on restorations and some of the characters observed were really way out there.  Cheesy Prior to that my former wife had a close cousin that lived on Key Biscayne, was nice but rather old by then. I'm sure that has all changed as well.

John it is amazing the change they even have a tunnel  ??? I didn't look where it goes but come on a tunnel? The 395 has changed so much I used to take that all the time because wife parents lived down there and had a business near it. Very modern looking now cleaned up all the old broken down buildings that used to line the sides of 395. Remember the old Miami Herald bldging that is gone and some contemporary buildings are there now. If you look at Google maps street view pics you can see some of it.

Yup been lurking on that Fla board and seeing your food hang out spots, I may show up one day if I can get my butt out and going early enough.  Grin

Oss been to hot to get out much lately small local rides but the longer ones have had to wait. The weather has changed I feel the coolness in the morning air its wonderful not to mention it seems every weekend is raining. Got the bike finished on the things I wanted to do to it and its feeling very good so the excuses are fading  Wink I must admit I was thinking of you on this ride Oss especially when I was on Ocean drive, lets just say that there was no shortage of secretary material, I was laughing to myself.

1985 was the last time I made it over to Miami. Mostly do the keys when going that direction.  Nice pics and beastly hot for our ride as well. I can deal with it but Sherry has trouble these last 6-7 years with this kind of heat.  But you will not see her stay home, she will not pass up a ride!  Robert there is an extra bedroom at the cottage if you want to come up for the pizza party!!!   And we will put your bike in the garage!  How can you say no now?  2funny Cheesy 2funny Cheesy 2funny
