Received one in the mail with instructions to access the video. I watched the video several times and felt that there was between 2 and 3 seconds missing. I decided not to pay and go to court and see what happens. I failed to send in my appearance but was included in the proceedings when I showed up. There were several before me (5) and only one was not guilty. They ask if it is my car and if I were driving. You are responsible for the vehicle registered to you. I said it was my car. We watched the video three times and I was right , there was about three seconds of it missing on the access I had. I made a complete stop and proceeded on with my turn. How many just pay the $100.00 ticket and go on. The video you can watch may not be complete. I was found not guilty . da prez

congrats. While the fine might not have been much, the associated costs, fees, taxes etc etc....all add up, plus points. Sometimes the system works.... But I'd be interested to know what they intend to do about the missing footage??? Or is it like "what difference at this point does it make".

It is unfortunate that most motorists do not challenge issued "Civil Infractions'.
The odds are in your favor when you take your driving infractions because the "burden of proof" falls on the LEO's.
I have successfully challenged every ticket I have received in the past 15 years (yes,...I am a scoflaw) and I have had way to many to mention.
A local ABATE of MI region hosted a seminar on how to challenge local police issued tickets without legal council.
Most District Courts assume that majority of ticketed persons will simply pay the ticket and be done with it. Also the LEO's don't appear in the Courts as they may have to do this on there own time.
Congradulations on your win!!!

Course you do realize my brother-da prez-lives on the fringes of the greater Chicago metro area and just out of Cook County Il. A very good area for machine politics! A "good" area for machine tickets-the video with a "slight" missing few seconds. We talked about people "just" coughing up the moola. I left that area in 1978 and there are ZACKLY 2 reasons I go back-my Brother and my Sister in law. But if you believe you are right-fight the sorry sumbitches NO MATTER where they are! RIDE SAFE.

I got a ticket taken by a photo for speeding in another state. They sent me the pictures and nowhere can you see me driving the car. I called them and asked them who was driving? They said they did not know and I told them I believe you do not ticket the car but the driver. If you can prove it was me driving then I will pay the fine, otherwise I will not. That was 4 years ago and never heard from them again.

Not a redlight ticket, but similar experience. The Mrs.was in Maryland (iirc) for a soccer tournament with my daughter a few yrs ago and a week later she got a coupon in the mail for speeding. 41 in a 35. There was a stationary speed trap on the street leading to the fields. It was a great picture of the car and license plate, I can only guess how many coupons were mailed out after that weekend. I know at least 2 other parents from my daughter's team got something in the mail too.
My town had the redlight cameras for a couple years and finally got rid of them. It seems as though there was a difference in the time of the yellow light was lit vs regular traffic signals. The redlight camera had a slightly quicker yellow to red change.

I got a redlight ticket in Clinton, TN a few years back in my wife's Sooby. Got a photo of the license plate and a photo of the car going under the red light, along with a citation and fine for $50. I sent the citation and a photo of a $50 bill back to them. They sent me a photo of the Anderson County jail. I sent them a check.

I didn't want to hi-jack the thread, but,,,, Awhile ago I received a camera ticket while driving thru DC. The ticket was mailed with a perfect picture of the truck while pulling out to pass a vehicle, complete with turn signal on. License plate and turn light showed up perfectly. The speed limit in that highway section was 45. The ticket was for 56 stating they did not ticket anyone for 10 over the limit or less. I forget what the dollar amount was but I just paid it because I know I was speeding at the time. I happen to think 45 in that section is ridiculous, but, the limit is the limit and I was going over it. All those tickets are for is to fill their coffers and the info doesn't go to your home state, at least it hasn't yet and I got another one in NC a few years earlier.

Thank goodness for Ohio Gov. John Kasich and legislature here. They passed a law outlawing all camera tickets. City of Dayton around here needed revenue bad and had many of these up. They are revenue enhancement devices only. Dayton is trying to sue the state to keep them. Pound sand Dayton. Chuck

I forgot about this one...
several years ago my father got a coupon in the mail too. he shipped his car to FL. it was put on an open car carrier. his car was the last car on the truck but the rear end was low. apparently the truck didn't pay the toll..or something like that, because the photo of the plate was of my dad's car, which was in plain view for the camera and hid the plate # of the truck.
after several phone calls and a few photo copies mailed or faxed back to whoever and the shipping company the ticket it was discharged. I believe the carrier paid the ticket once my dad sent copies of his transport receipt with the date and such.

This reminds me of a ticket I received via USPS a few years ago. At the time I was working in Boy’s Town in the great state of Chicago (yes, I know it is a city but since they play by their own rules…) and received an invitation to the policeman’s ball for speeding in a school zone on Addison St. 37 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone, 25 MPH zone during school hours. Except the date it was issued for was a Saturday. No problem you say? You don’t know Chicago do you? I called and was basically told too bad, so sad, pay up or we put out a bench warrant you scofflaw. The next step, of course, is to have my barrister call and he was told pretty much the same thing which (I guess) annoyed him. Long story made short, the ticket was dismissed and the attorney fees were all paid by the fine taxpayers of Chicago, but it did take some time and a Circuit Court judge. I still avoid Addison Street around Lane Tech.

Something told to me, Full 3 second stop at the stop line on right on red and stop signs. Must stop at the line to avoid triggering the camera.
