can anyone tell me a way that I might straighten a handle bar that is slightly bent?Would I  be better off buying a different handle bar?? It is bent just  enough that its noticeable.

Where is it bent?

Ya got a picture of it.

Any possible way of anchoring it and using a come along to spread it or close down the gap?

+1 Having tried to straighten bars several times on bikes I rode in the dirt and on trails, with varying success, it is unlikely you'll get bars as large as these near straight, without cracks and other fatigue issues.

Bars are an item on a road or race bike to really NOT mess with. Sometime back I recollect a post on the cheapy chinese risers breaking. You MIGHT get them straightened out but it will have a least to flexes/stretches they were never meant to have. Sides when you think about it your handle bars ARE the input mechanism for what YOU want the bike to do. I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather have breaking at speed on a M/C than my handle bars!  RIDE SAFE.
Today is the tommorow you worried about yesterday. If at first you don't succeed screw it-save it for nite check.  1964  1968 U S Navy. Two cruises off Nam.
