Was getting gas during my ride this morning and some guy walked up and started eye-balling the Valk. He was saying something that I couldn't hear due to my ear plugs. Once removed, he was saying how he loves the Valkyries. He used to have one and he commented on how nice it was that after a 1K mile ride, he could park the bike and walk around without issue. He currently owns two HD's and he feels stiff even after a couple hundred. He said he would buy another one if it weren't so hard to find one still in great shape. This was a fairly young cat with tattoos from head to toe so I was somewhat surprised to receive the compliment.

I can't wait to put some long rides on her now that she's very close to running perfect. Thanks to all of you who have answered my previous posts with questions and provided guidance with getting her back that way.

Yep, it happens once in awhile. Most of the time they walk by and laugh usually spitting as they go. Of course these folks are also always dressed up in their Harley suits.

Mine isn't even dressed with the most "safety" chrome and I still get a lot of compliments on her from all kinds of riders.

Honda hit a home run with the old Valkyries it's too bad they decided to bunt with the new ones.

HD riders giving a Honda of any kind doesn't happen often around me.

I had coming out of the grocery store a few what appeared to be HD riders come up and while I was walking up from aways away,  they came up close and saw the Honda Valkyrie emblem on tank.  They backed off ASAP and I just laughed as I came closer and never said a word.

I had a HD rider pay me and my Valyrie a compliment today at our 2nd annual bike show.
He walked up to my bike and asked me how I was able to put a "Car Engine" into a motorcycle?
I told him that it was quite simple, "just buy a Honda Valkyrie".

Same thing happened to me today. Gassing up at the station after a great colors ride and ignoring the five Harleys parked there.  Saw someone walk up and it was one of the Harley riders, decked out in the orange and black head to toe.  He said he loves the Valkyries, and if he wasn't on a Harley he'd be on a Valkyrie.  Said they are so unique with all the chrome, and that they aren't a wanna be bike.  I told him I just like the way it performs and handles.

Ron, in OUR eyes Honda might have hit a Home Run...but not in the eyes of the buying public. As you probably know, I had 2 Interstates and truly loved them while I had each one. However, IF they were Home Runs, care to explain why the Interstate only had a 3 year run?

I now have an F6b and will go to bat for that. With the 2016 model year, the F6b model will have matched the original Valk Tourer in longevity...the similar model of Valk to the F6B.

All I have to say  is that on the whole, we are all motorcycle riders, regardless of what brand and style of bike we ride. I may not want to ride an HD, but I'm not too crazy about the seating position on the crotch rockets either.  That doesn't stop me from admiring someone else's bike either.

Understood and pretty much agree, only giving my perspective.

Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« Reply #10 on: September 27, 2015, 07:02:41 PM »

Earlier this summer I got a 99 Interstate so I had to do something with the 99 tourer I had with 100k on the clock. Decided to give it to my daughter and son in law. They live over near Davenport Iowa.

So one Rainy day a few weeks ago I decide I'm just going to run it over there and have my wife follow along in the car later.

My daughter was working that weekend and the son in law was out of town on business so the wife and I took the bike, which was the dirtiest it has ever been after a 150 miles in the rain, to Le Claire Iowa where the American Picker boys have their shop. Antique Archeology.

So we get to their shop and in the drive way is about 6 Harleys. A couple of them were major dollar ones too, and we roll in and park next to the bunch.

The wife and I get done with the looking around the place and I get on the 100k, 16 year old, dirty, cruddy looking bike and a nice looking gal, in front of some of them Harley guys, comes up and says, rather enthusiastically, " Oh! That's a pretty bike!"

Old gal still got it.

MY compliment came just a couple of days ago, while at a stop light next to a full dresser. He was very complimentary and wondered why Honda quite making the valkyrie becasue it is such a fast runner and is so durable etc etc.  He even surprised me.  Having  noticed his double antennias, I asked what channel he usually used.  His response: We Blue Knights usually use 14!!
