We did some rain riding today.  Probably the wettest day of the year, today was the memorial service.  Sorry I didn't take any pictures but you can see it on the news.  I have never seen so many LEOs on a mission, I mean it took 45min for the law enforcement vehicles to pass by.  2500 people in attendance and hardly a dry eye.  What a wonderful celebration of the life of a true patriot.

The streets were flooded... Enough that I will be taking the rear apart tomorrow just in case.

A real travesty, a good man lost.

I don't know how much rain we've had today, but for once I'm glad to be stuck in a control room for the last 12 hours.

Hope you dry out Jeff.

Btw....such a tragedy and needless death at the hands of a coward.  Seems cops have a target on them lately.

I looked this up and found out he had retired and then came back to serve papers. Yet ANOTHER senseless slaying of a L E O.  Cry L E Os lives matter! May he forever R I P.  police  angel WHEN zackly did first responders become targets?  Undecided I made mention of this before-we here in Missouri have a standing notice that at a Flag line for first responders the people in the flag line MIGHT become targets. I make it a point if at all possible to be in a Flag line for first responders!  cooldude Thanks Chris for what you do. RIDE SAFE.

Ya know, they tell us we are expendable when we go through the academy. They told us t hat there are a bunch of recruits looking for YOUR job. So if you (verbatim) "lights out" while on duty that is your job. You have to accept it may happen. I always knew it "may happen" and almost has on several occasions but I never dwelled on the probability. If you do you may as well quit.
Needless murder of an officer is more prevalent and will usually only be a blurb in the news. This murder,  is a prime example of the worst that can happen. An officer needlessly paid with his life for no reason. But don't let an officer shoot someone, then all hell brakes lose. I am not a prejudice person but I will say this. IF I am in a confrontation with a black perp, I'm nervous where I never have been before! Target, maybe more so to some extent, I think that has always been there. Some people just don't like LE officers but it's usually a result of some type of one on one issue with a cop. Ticket, arrest, verbal confrontation, whatever. So they have a screw em all attitude. But with all the crap that has gone on in the past year officers are hesitant to do much. Hesitation in LE will cost you your life!

This particular coward was white.  This officer's murder effected the entire county in a way that I've never seen before here.

I had to go into work early Monday....my crew was about 45 minutes late because of the procession that Jeff was in.  I didn't mind.

btw.....We had at least a foot of rain Monday.

It was a great honor to ride for Deputy Myers.  I had second thoughts due to the weather, but hey water drys is what I could hear that small voice in my head say.  New boots haven't dried out yet, they will.

I'm not sure why family members get so much out of the presence of the Patriot Guard but they do, and that's why I keep doing it.  It is a sad way to spend the day, but very rewarding

Deputy Myers was one of the LEO's that provided escort support for many PGR missions,

NOT every time but once in awhile a family member takes time from their grief and walks up to us in the Flag line or as we are rolling up the Flags at the cemetery and thanks us. Or they say how much my husband/father/uncle would have enjoyed seeing the M/Cs. When a family member does this it truly humbles me. RIDE SAFE.
