SurfCityRed and some others expressed an interest in a Mid TN meet and greet. I know that Joe's FCR is just 2 weeks away and Mac's Veterans ride is just a few weeks past that. Those are going to be the best place to really meet some of the good folks of this VRCC locally. However, I am going to be riding over to Gordonsville this coming Saturday, Oct 10, to meet a couple of other riders. Would anybody like to meet at T-Bell in Gordonsville next Saturday? Say around noon. Lot's of decent roads to and from no matter which direction you come from. Answer back here if you want to make it happen.

Count me in. As long as the weather is not snotty rain I'll be there for sure. I look forward to meeting some other mid-TN Valk riders.
What's the skinny on "Joe's FCR and Mac's Veterans ride"????

SurfCity Red, Joe's FCR is Oct 16, 17, and 18 in Robbinsville, NC. Make it to ground zero Friday the 16th. Ride thru the mountains enjoying the fall colors on the 17th. Head back home on the 18th. Both evenings/nights at the ground zero hotel will have some tire thumpin and story tellin to rival the best. There might even be some good natured pranks about. And of course the cold liquid refreshments.
Mac's Veteran's Day Ride will be hooking up in Cookeville. I think that will be November 6, 7, and 8. I started a thread to verify that. The evenings/nights at the hotel will be much like the ones at Joe's FCR. Cookeville is not that far for you. Make plans to be there.

Jerry, As much as I'd like to make this trip, I have other requirements taking up that time frame. Going to try and hit the Veterans Day Ride, hope to see you there.

Ron, This meeet and greet is a spur of the moment thing. No big deal. I will definitely be at the Veterans Day Ride. I even get to be on the ride this year! I am hoping to make the FCR too but that depends on my getting the engine and trans put back together and back in a Mastercraft boat prior to the FCR. I might not get to go. I have been out of town for 3 weeks with family and that has put me way behind on this boat. I have to put a new strut, prop, and prop shaft in this boat too. They really did a number on it. Over 10K in damages. See ya on the Veterans Ride, Jerry

Jerry,
Don't count on me being there... BUT, I'm going to try. I have a 'thing' tomorrow, and everything afterward will depend on how things go with that... No idea at this point, but if possible I'd like to use your outing as an excuse for a much needed ride! It also wouldn't hurt for me to get in a little practice riding to sort of tune-up my skills and knock off some of the skill rust before the FCR... you know how that Wild Bunch is when it comes to scooting around in the hills...
DDT
P.S. Is T-Bell a Taco Bell? My navigation skills (or lack thereof) are legendary, so any help with the location would not be wasted in my case! TIA

It's the Taco Bell in Gordonsville at noon. (477 Gordonsville Hwy, Gordonsville, TN 38563) It is right off Interstate 40. I am not 100% positive but if I am wrong, I am sure I will be corrected. That's the one I found on the net.

Hey Folks, Taco Bell at Gordonsville is actually inside a gas station. I forget what brand of gas. Heading north on RT 53 it will be the second building on your right after you go under I40. First is McDonalds, then gas station/Tbell.
From southwest, if you have the time, you might want to pick up rt 53 through Alexandria and then turn right on New Middleton Road (141). If you get to the I40 ramp, just turn back about 50 yards to the New Middleton Road. From New Middleton Road turn left at the flashing traffic signal in Gordonsville. That will put you back on RT 53 just south of I40 in Gordonsville.
If coming from the west, I would suggest picking up RT 141 at Lebanon and ride that all the way to Gordonsville. You will find RT 141 a good place to hone those twisty skills with just a few straights to give you a momentary break. From exit 239 on I40, head north on RT 70. Go straight at the first traffic light and then turn right onto Trousdale Ferry Pike (RT 141). If you get to the second traffic light north of I40, you have just passed RT 141.
Bruce, I hope your "thing" turns out the best possible way and you can make it to our outing.

Guys and Gals,
Sorry I had to miss your meet & greet... Alas, it was more of a scheduling thing with a spate of weather (moisturefication) thrown in that caused me to be a 'no-show'.
The 'thing' went pretty well, but to quote the doctor, "We'll need to kick the extra point next Tuesday afternoon when the biopsy results come back." Other than that, which he said he sees as more of a formality, things went quite well, and we are pleased. (Please don't un-cross your fingers just yet, though.)
So much riding to do, so little time! Actually, I have more time available than I once did, so I am not complaining or anything... It has more to do with my desire to be out yonder versus what I'm actually able to accomplish. I'm certain I'm not alone with that predicament, huh?
Anyhow, I couldn't be with y'all, even though I really did want to be... Maybe next time...

Bruce, We're keeping our fingers crossed and sayin a few prayers too.
The weather was good for the meet and greet. Some rain was around earlier in the morning but was gone well before noon. It was cloudy and just cool enough to make the leather gear very comfortable. We all took an easy ride on the above mentioned rt141 before splitting up and heading home. A small patch of gravel in the middle of a turn at the top of one hill surprised us but all made it across with no more than a skipped heartbeat and a good pucker of the butt muscles.
Mural is looking forward to seeing you at the Veteran's Day ride. She is trying to weasel out of her other obligation that weekend so that she can go on the ride too.
Jerry
