My wife has an HJC modular helmet and she loves it.  Much easier to put on is what she likes best.

I have one. I have the Torc T-22 modular helmet. Was interested in buying a pair for the wifey figure and me to use while riding 2-up. I bought mine for a smoking deal, and never got hers.

Simple answer, you're getting what you pay for. The bluetooth is difficult to set up. I finally sinc'd mine with my iPhone, but found out in the manual that over 65 MPH the bluetooth doesn't work for safety reasons. Even when going less than 65, the bluetooth doesn't work well because of the massive amount of noise. I mean, it is noisy, real noisy. I continuously have to ride with the front shield at least partly open, as the air flow looks nice, but doesn't function well at all.

I have owned since Christmas of 2014, and in July the modular portion no longer stays open. Torc will say you can ride with this portion open, however after possibly a dozen times using, mine no longer stays open.

Again, I got what I paid for, and looking back I would not buy another.

This is my 2 cents worth.

i have a shoei neotech, very good helmet, it's a little noisier than conventional full faced helmet but otherwise it's a great helmet...  i had a hard time dropping $700ish on a helmet but now that i've done it i don't regret it one bit...  it is my head after all!

I like my modular helmet even if was only 100 bucks.  I find it nice to lift it up in city traffic to get fresh hair and have a drink vs. a full faced helmet unable to do both.

They are a tad bit noiser than most full faced helmets, but one thing I learned is doing say 65mph on up with the front of helmet open all the way, creates some negative wind pressure force against your head pulling your head backwards since wind current over the windshield is pushing your modular helmet back if left open, NOT good.

I'll never go back to a full faced helmet can deal with the slight more wind noise for better creature comforts.

I usually wear a 3/4, but I carry an HJC modular for bad weather.  It's great in the rain.
It is very comfortable, but I do feel some visibility impairment with it on.

I use an HJC modular helmet. little story, last year went down at 80 mph plus, bounced down the road for quite a distance and broke a bunch of bones. The HJC saved my arse, it was beat to crap but did it's job. Stayed locked and closed. After a 6 month recovery, one of the first things I did was purchase another HJC.

Last year I bought a HJC modular but there were some sound issues with it or so I thought. I posted here about it and was given a ton of info on modulars and I bought a Nolan N104. Well I was impressed with the HJC, but the Nolan was even better. A few months later I installed the N-com system and it took about 20 minutes. The radio works great, the Bluetooth works even better with an I-touch for music.

Using the modular takes a few hours to get use to f you are transitioning from a 1/2 helmet, but once you get use to it, it's great. Yes it does get a little warm in the summer, but I feel much safer with it. I trust myself when riding, it's the other knuckle heads out there that really concern me. In my neck of the woods there are MANY seniors and they have been involved in many of the m/c accidents I read about as well as the usual drivers who do not see bikers.

Riding w a modular now is like second nature. As a matter of fact, the other night I told the bike out for a real quick ride....about 15 min each way and rode w my old 1/2 helmet and it was real weird.

I have the HJC and bought a newer version for the wife.  About $200 each.  Happy with the modular functions and do not use blue tooth, so no opinions for the connectivity aspects.  I do experience noise, mush like the flapping of a flag at 50 or so.  Can't see anything in the helmet that would make that kind of noise.  Any thoughts out there in VRCC land?

Take a look at the Shark Evoline. Mine is nice and quiet and the chin guard latches right over the back of the helmet if you want to ride that way. The Carbon fibre one is nice and light too but is spendy. http://www.shark-helmets.com/product.php?code_sous_gamme=EVC

I have been using HJC modular for years.  You can spend a lot more money, but the quality has gotten better with HJC in recent years.    I recently upgraded to a HJC IS-Max II from an older HJC Symax.  They look very similar, but the newer helmet is lighter, and perhaps a bit quieter.

I use a Sena SMH10 Bluetooth with mine.  No problems with integration.

My I/S has more protection than a standard or tourer.  So take that into consideration about wind noise.

I often pull the front piece up when I am stopped,  I also seldom ride with the face shield down.  It is nice to have the option to "close up" though when it gets stormy.

My experience with helmets is that you often don't know if you really like them until you have ridden several hundred miles.  I have had Nolan's, Shoei's, Arai's,  etc. over the years, like cars, there is good and bad with them all.

Major problem I had with HJC CL Max was rain dripping down the inside of the face shield. The shield does not make a good seal with the helmet.
