I use a variety of sunglasses and clip ons with changing light conditions. Went looking for my amber clip-ons and they are gone gone gone! Had to go to wally wurld for a few things anywho and went over to the rack hat has the sunglasses and the clip ons. This is NOT a plug for a brand. I happen to use Solar Shield polarized clip ons. They have been $10.00 a pair now for a couple of years. I saw the new price and they are now $13.00 a pair! If my grade school math hasn't failed me THAT'S a 30% markup! BUT I kept digging and found what I needed at the old price of $10.00! Notice as I age I'm needing darker shades in the brighter light conditions. AND down here also our gas prices are creeping upward again! And my senior coffee at micky Ds has gone from 50 cents a cup to 69 cents a cup. Again IF my math hasn't failed that's a 38% price increase. Gonna TRY very hard to make the Mo. F C R. Then all THIS will seem trivial-for a couple hours anyway! RIDE SAFE.

Wife and I are in santiago Chile. Gas here is about $10.00 a gallon. When you look at the food menues and see 29000 pesos for a meal , it makes you wonder. 680 pesos to the dollar. We are on our last leg of the trip. Buenos aris ,argentina , Chile and then to Rapa Nui. we will be glad to get home to our own bed and food. The weather has been good when we needed it to be. Not stealing 02s post , but just letting the board know I am still alive. Did any one miss me. Our credit card companies do.

Been to the grocery store lately for milk, eggs, and bread? Bring your krugerrands! INEXPENSIVE-using THAT term loosely-eggs can be found for bout 2 bucks a dozen. Milk at Aldis in West Plains Mo around 2 and a half a gallon. Here in Willow Springs Mo it's flirting with 5 bucks a gal. Just bought a 5lb container of honey-almost 15 bucks. Bout 2 years ago 5lbs of honey was right at 9 bucks. On S S I HAVE to take advantage of all the sales and the discount grocery place in Cabool Mo. I'm by myself and with careful shopping I can find GOOD meat at a reasonable price. Worse comes to worse I'll move over to the senior housing and save about $400.00 or more a month. BUT NOT ready to give up my garage/shop. RIDE SAFE.

The talk is that seniors are on a fixed income. Technically that is correct but the buying power keeps going down. Seems like the only ones that get raises are the ones on government payrolls.
They have forgotten about decent COLA for SS.

I know one thing. I will never give up red meat entirely. My "concession" to good health is maybe to order a 12 oz steak instead of the 16 oz I used to order. The price of beef has really gone up, it seems, during this administration. Not saying it's related but....it also seems that the beef section of the stores is getting smaller and smaller also. Damn healthy people are causing me to pay more because they're eatin more chikin(spelled the Chik fil A way)!

I have observed the price of beef and the shrinking offerings as well. I have wondered if maybe in this new global economy that things we have often taken for granted are worth way more in other countries so the "premium stuff" gets sold there and we are left with the pickings. Yesterday I saw a communications at the company I work for and a statement that caught my eye was "accelerate global expansion." This was listed as a company "imperative" where in the past something like that would've been stated as a company initiative. All these companies want to expand globally (rapidly) and take over markets before their competitors do. The greed is rampant and those in control of the money are more greedy than ever. To them the American way of life means nothing, it's all about their greed. The prices we Americans are use to paying for things compared to other countries is going to be a thing of the past. We either pay lots more for the "good stuff" or it will be sent somewhere else on the planet where they will.

Your observations about red meat are pretty accurate. But it's not really the healthy people that are affecting the market. When the price of corn and grain rose ranchers cut back the sizes of their herds. Which affected the prices. I too will never give up on red meat but I can't bring myself to pay $14 lb. for a rib eye. But you'd be amazed at the amount of people who do.

Yah, hamburger on sale for 3.29 lb. 80/20 mix is NOT cheap. Forget about good steak (not made in Mexico) at well over 6 bucks per lb. - YIKES!!! I try to find the 1lb. hamburger packages at our local store that have an expiration date of same day or 1 day later that has dollar off per package and snatch them up when I can. We have been eating more chicken and pork though which is still pretty cheap to purchase. I too see gas rising was 3.299 now is 3.499 a few weeks later. What gives? I thought gas was going to go down with the winter blended fuel and come soon winter? As far as social security, I have my doubt say some 25-30 years from now there will be a social security fund even? I cannot fathom what our younger generation will face when they get old and we are long gone.

By working I can stay busy, stay in better shape, and plan next years road trips......

Well, if the sunglasses were $10 two years ago and just went up to $13, that would average 15% per year, not 30%. To really know the inflation on them, you need to know when the price went up to $10.
