i've only had my valk for about 6 weeks or so, i've put about 2500 miles on it, rode from central iowa to red wig minn. a couple weeks ago and followed the river down to prairie du chien wi and then back to brooklyn.  i really enjoyed the trip and it was on this trip that i made up my mind to upgrade the seat on my valk...  my issue with the stock seat was largely that my knees rode higher than my hips and it required that i lift my legs just to put my feet down... not cool and certainly not a smooth maneuver after a hundred miles or so in the saddle so i knew i was going to have to do something if i was going to truly enjoy the bike.  i ordered the king with backrest from ultimate seats, i also got the pillion seat as my daughter really enjoys riding with me but she broke her tailbone while being a dork with her friends (her words)  and after an hour or so she is uncomfortable...
well anyway it arrived today and i installed it right away,  i only had time for a quick 10 minute ride but i am thrilled about being able to simply put my feet down w/o having to lift my legs just to get my feet off/clear of the pegs cooldude
i should add that i'm 6'5'' and 290ish with a 35.5" inseam... my biggest issue with the bike has been the awkwardness at low speed due to the seating position/height and i am thrilled to have that situation remedied!   it has truly transformed the bike for me!!   now if i could just do something about the fuel range Grin

Hi Dan,
It's good to hear from another Big Boy out there. I had similar problems when I started riding the Valk 12 years ago. The King Big Boy seat from Ultimate has proven to be the best seat I've ever used on any bike. I owned a couple of Harleys newest cruisers but could never get comfortable on them. Nice bikes, but I felt like I was driving a VW with the seat pushed forward. After a couple of hours, I'd be done for the day. The big Valkyrie with the Ultimate seat has proven to be the only bike I can ride all day long.

Ultimate are nice seats, I have a big boy on mine but wish I would have spent a couple hundred more and got a Russell. A couple hours on the stock seat I was done, 5 or so hours on my ultimate im done, all weekend rides get very uncomfortable espically the 2nd day. I'll eventually upgrade again to a Russell . Yes they are ugly but who cares as long as your comfortable.

I have an Ultimate BigBoy on Deerslayer.  Nice looking seat but my Rood custom seat was much better on the long haul.  Butts are very personal.  What works for you might not work for your friend.  Except for Russell.

My new Russell.  Haven't done an all-day on it yet.  But so far my butt is VERY happy.  Yeah it cost more.  A LOT more.  Worth it.

i appreciate the feedback guys!  while i have heard nothing but good about the russell seats since i wasn't experiencing any numbness or serious discomfort overall, just low speed issues from the extra effort required to get my feet off the pegs i didn't figure that i needed much more than simply more leg room...  to be honest there is enough "slack" in the stock seat cover that it leads me to believe that the factory foam is shot... there is no doubt that i made the right choice due to my inseam/overall size but i have to wonder what i would have thought of the stocker if it was in better shape...
at any rate i am very happy!  i'm diggin the backrest too!

Ultimate Kingboy Aaaaaaaaand peg relocation kit.  I think I got the kit from Big Bike Things (somebody will correct me if I'm wrong).  Puts the peg on the left and peg with brake pedal on the right down and forward an inch each way.  That 2 inches, with the Kingboy sitting you back another inch helps a lot.

I then put on pull back risers with apehanger handlebars.  Sits me more upright and even with the apes, my arms are still lower than my shoulders.  Eliminated neck and should fatigue.  OSS said it feels like riding your old Schwinn Stingray.  Had to change out all the cables and hydrolic lines but was able to find a few more inches for the electric wires in the headlight bucket so that saved a ton of work.

cooldude  on the Peg Relocation kit.  Got my first kit for the I/S from Rattlebars (since retired).  Got my second kit for the Std from Mark T.  For me, it is one of those "must haves", and I have short legs.   Wink
Makes a world of difference.

I'm saving my scheckels for a Russell. Being an upholsterer, I will have a hard time writing a check to pay someone for work that I do, but I can't come close to finding the right foam mix to match what they do. I called them to try and buy just the foam bun and make my own cover. Nope, not happening. I'll probably get their lowest fabric and recover it the way I want.

Mark, would you say the Russell raises you up the same amount as the Ultimate Big Boy or is it more/less?
