It's a dance...led by a mad god...and one of these days I'm gonna miss a step.

It's a dance too often so much like the waltz between a matador and the bovine beast.  Glad you made the music play your way again.

Dan you are absolutely wasting away.  It looks good on you.   cooldude

Almost can't recognize you anymore, Daniel! As for cage/bike....It happens so fast, you  have to be on your toes at all times. I have seen that very accident happen in front of me twice. Both times, new riders. I ride with the idea that every one I meet on the road has no idea I am there. It has helped me ride out of many situations. I think learning in the dirt helped me learn to look ahead and see obstacles that could trip me up, and it just carried over to the street. Great story, and great picture cooldude

Most if not all of us no matter what age are worried bout missin "that" dance step!  Undecided Cause the moment/split second/lifetime we do miss that step-the consequences will be dire. And Daniel-no-you ain't weird cuz you didn't get yer blood pressure up-cuz iffin you iz so I iz also. Much like pilots-any landing you can walk away from-M/C riders-any near miss yer talkin bout with out splints or bandages!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Perfectly normal not to raise the pulse. Overexposure to the same stimuli seems to have a decreasing effect. Near misses that used to cause me to have to pull off the road to calm down are now simple affirmations of "Saw that one coming..." You are looking very good indeed, please tell me you found the magic bullet that melts it all away!

... Overexposure to the same stimuli seems to have a decreasing effect. ...

The sight of a beautiful woman, for some of us, clearly demonstrates the invalidity of the assumption.

I have missed that dance step a have a few others.  It does cause the occasional rise in pulse rate but it also, thankfully, redefines what is referred to as a "near miss".   Wink

Thanks...I've a disturbingly long way to go. I told the doc my employer insists that I should weigh in at 170 pounds or pay fines...and asked him how I could achieve that.

He said, "Die."

Unfortunately, no...no magic.
--Never eat anything I like.
--Be starving all the time.
--Work my ass off.

Hardest thing I've ever done. I'm not always successful.

True that! 25 years with mine and my heart still skips a beat when she walks into a room...

Pay the fine.  I weigh in a little over 190.  I could stand too lose just a little but I don't see you at twenty pounds under my weight.  I honor your taskmaster for inspiring you to start what you've done but you're pretty well done where you are.  The accomplishment, and it is great, is for you and your loved ones; for your own life.  I don't like your doctor's answer.  I'm guessing I like it a lot less than your employer.  That makes no sense.  Your employer is making money on your work every day and it will be very, very difficult for that employer to find a replacement.

It's been great and very quick work, Dan.  Hold what you've got.  Don't overachieve in this area and don't give up and let it reverse.  Hold what you've got.  The wind and lots of us are pleased with what you've done.

Riding through that Dallas traffic would likely be a dance of death for me.  I hate metro traffic anywhere, but I can't imagine commuting around the big D and some other huge cities.  At least in your case it's fodder for great stories!   cooldude

The fine is an 80% increase in my part of my health insurance premiums. EIGHTY percent... Sad I can get the doc to sign exceptions, but they only work IF I "improve" by 10% or more each time. Believe it or not, this is allowed/encouraged by ACA. Coming your way soon I'd wager.

Also, the 170 is the TOP weight for my height according to them...175 is overweight. 120-170 is where they insist I'm "healthy".

Doc was being light-hearted Willow. He's basically saying with my build, 170 is stupid and it will probably kill me to try to get there.

I believe him. When I was in HIGH SCHOOL, working farm fields and playing football...and was nothing but cum and solid muscle, I was way over 170. No fat on me then. I still have a lot of muscle...

My goal is probably around 200-220 or so.

Hardest thing I've ever done.

Those height/weight tables at best are unrealistic. I've gained a few pounds since I've retired. I believe even when I was working construction in Colorado I would have had a difficult time with those charts. Bet you couldn't get one of the people that put these charts together to follow you around for a week and do what you do. RIDE SAFE
