Ok Forbes then
Real unemployment 12.6%
http://www.forbes.com/sites/louisefron/2014/08/20/tackling-the-real-unemployment-rate-12-6/

or like usual you are only going to pick articles that kinda support your opinion. Mine were the equal to yours, except I made the effort to ask the right questions.

Try some of these sources:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/adamhartung/2013/05/16/economically-could-obama-be-americas-best-president/

http://www.factcheck.org/2015/07/obamas-numbers-july-2015-update/

Notice these aren't liberal nor conservative sites.  I mean forbes might be conservative leaning, but factcheck is neutral.  For the most part you should look at sites that end it .gov .org or .edu
Ok, Forbes, real unemployment 12.6%
http://www.forbes.com/sites/louisefron/2014/08/20/tackling-the-real-unemployment-rate-12-6/

BTW, the Fprbes article you site used Facebook as a source

Tried to stay out, but this is bs.
Obama said he'd reduce the budget deficit by half?  The budget deficit was at 1.4 trillion a year when he took over.  It is now at just over 400 billion.  That is more than half.
Bush had about a 600B to which he added a Tarp that was partly repaid so his total deficit was about 800B. In that same fiscal year, Obama added 300B in his stimulus bring the total to 1.2T. He followed that with 4 consecutive trillion + years of deficit spending and in now at about the same rate that Bush was in his last term. http://thehill.com/opinion/columnists/dick-morris/79359-these-are-the-true-deficits-bush-800b-obama-14t
http://www.davemanuel.com/history-of-deficits-and-surpluses-in-the-united-states.php

Quote
When Obama took over, the unemployment rate was over 9% and quickly approaching 10%  The unemployment rate is now at just over 5% and continuing to fall.  From 800,000 jobs disappearing every month to hundreds of thousands of jobs being added a month.
First, the max unemployment under GWB was about 7.5% the end of the fiscal year was 9.2% using the U6. The current U6 is 11.3%. Reporting the U3 vs the U6 as the admin is doing is like saying you are going faster than your buddy who is passing you because you are reading the KPH on the speedometer. http://useconomy.about.com/od/suppl1/f/real_unemployment_rate.htm

When Obama took over, the Dow Jones was at just over 6000, and now it is at over 17,000
During the last year of GWB the dow hit 13.4K, the first two years of O it tanked to 8.8K. So it is higher now, it took us 4 years to get even before it went up again.

Quote
When Obama took over, home values were plummeting and people were being foreclosed on.  Now home values are skyrocketing, and people have been able to refinance at reasonable rates.
Home prices are still high. Interest rates are being artificially held down so we cant make any money and banks dont want to lend.

Quote
When Obama took over, health insurance companies were able to deny coverage for preexisting conditions, and were able to drop your policy when you got sick and needed it most.  Now you cannot be denied coverage.
You are still reading the pamphlet. You can now be denied care and you can still be denied for preexisting. Young people who dont NEED coverage are forced to buy coverage that they will never use, ie 22 y/o guys getting covered for pregnancy.

Quote
When Obama took over, Chevrolet was going bankrupt, and now they are profitable.  They repaid their loan with interest.
First, they broke the contract and screwed the bondholders (check your 401K). GM did NOT pay back the bailout in full. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/03/23/why-government-motors-still-owes-you.aspx

Quote
When Obama took over, Osama Bin Laden was partying with his buddies in Pakistan.  Now he is at the bottom of the ocean.
I will give him that one, even though he had to be dragged off the golf course and piddeled around until it was almost to late.

Quote
I don't see how any reasonable thinking person could say Obama is a failure.  He has accomplished much of what he wanted to do, despite complete obstruction by the republicans.
He got everything he wanted, even AFTER he lost both houses. Dont forget, he had nothing but Dems for quite a while, and still had the senate even after they lost the house. I am not sure how one does complete obstruction when one is not in power, but thats interesting doublethink.
Quote
The U.S. economy is doing very well.  Our personal fortunes have improved.  Is there more work to be done?  Of course!  That is why it is a good thing that the president for the next 8 years will be a democrat as well.
The US economy was downgraded and is in danger of it happening again. The DEBT which is the true troll in the closet has gotten twice as large. Country's all around the world are trying to get away from the dollar as standard currency. The stock market has grown on average 7.25 (ish)% since O has been in charge. Average is 12%.
Wow, maybe you should have stayed out of it.....That's some crazy... and nice little snark about the golf course.

No one is suggesting give up everything and let the government take care of you.  That is another straw man argument.  How about instead we get what we pay for already?  We pay as much or more in taxes as the "socialist" governments in Europe, but we hardly get jack for it.  Don't you think every American that wants to get a college education should be able to? Don't you think that in the largest economy in the world that the least would should be able to say is no child goes hungry?  Don't you think if an American gets sick he should be able to go to the doctor?  Why wouldn't you want your fellow Americans to be healthy, and well educated?

It's very easy to articulate what we want or feel we have paid for. No one on either side of the fence has articulated how we get there. We may pay as much as the socialist governments but we do have some idea of how our pie is divided and if we were to "get what we are paying for" something would have to give and we all know how unwilling either side is to cut a program that is already in place.

Here is what I advocate. A balanced budget, period. Term limits for Congress. Outlaw lobbyists. All Americans receive the same healthcare and benefits as Congress. No new spending without a corresponding cut or a  plan that lays out where the new revenue stream will come from and has to be approv.ed by the voting public. I would not care which party was in office.

The article you posted claims unemployment is higher than actually is being reported.  Firstly, does it mention that how unemployment is being reported now is how it has always been reported?  No, it doesn't.  Secondly, to claim unemployment is higher because people that are actually employed should be counted as unemployed because they are part time is disingenuous.  Were part time employees ever considered unemployed in the past?  No, they were not.  To count people who have "given up looking for work because they feel there is none" but are not reporting as unemployed isn't honest either, and I'll tell you why.  Because there are more job openings right now then there have been the past 20 YEARS.  So if someone says they can't find a job, and have given up looking, and don't qualify for unemployment, those are the people who need job training (aka educational programs) that you do not support.

John  you have got to stop reading my plans  lol

i have no hard facts to back this up but I think after watching as many elections
as many of you that both parties once in power
really do not give priority to reducing the debt over feeding their own power and graft

Cant wait to see the candidates reveal what their plans will be for economy and who they want on their cabinets.  That will drive my decision over which candidate to pick  Probably not a democrat as its time for a change in party as this one has not done the job.  The whole congress should go as they are inept as well IMHO

To me its about feedng the engine -  to drive the economy only a growing economy has the potential to raise revenue sufficiently to reduce debt, provided programs and ill conceived trade agreements do not piss away that revenue    True stand alone social security is possible only if the idiots in washington
stop raiding the cookie jar, I have little hope that will happen

The failure of social security to increase is shameful   Here is another example

Here in NYC the rent control board voted no increase in rent  This while water went way up, real estate tax went way up and a socialist mayor and governor both preside over a system that allows tenants to stay without paying rent up to a year   If you own a home and have the audacity to ask for the tenant to pay so you dont go into foreclosure you are evil to these bottom dwelling judges and lawmakers

I will admit that I  pray for this country daily and try to ignore the silly personal attacks on this Valkyrie board     At least I rode today, 4 times  never over 93mph (beemer)

What needs to be cut is what we spend on defense.  We spend more than the next 10 largest spenders combined.  There is a lot of fat to be trimmed there.  There is a lot of revenue lost in corporate welfare, both in subsidies and tax breaks.  They should pay their fair share.  Same with hedge fund managers that gamble with our money, but pay at a capital gains rate instead of normal income rates.

I support term limits, and do not like the idea of lifelong politicians, but I do realize that it sometimes takes awhile to get good at a job.  Experience is valuable.  Experienced mechanics.  Experienced doctors.  Experienced pilots for example.  I do not like the power lobbyists have, and abhor the fact that currently billionaires and multinational corporations can pour as much money as they want into buying elections.  At the same time I believe that citizens should be able to get together in groups and make their voices heard by lobbying for their causes.  I like the idea of the same healthcare for all.  Universal single payer healthcare, like the rest of the civilized world.  The result would lower infant mortality, longer and healthier lifespans.

To me the hard part is/will be getting the American voting public to wake up and quit following a party line and or the conservative/liberal back and forth struggle. We are constantly being sold a bill of goods by the political machine, notice I didn't say Dem or Rep, that generally pits us, the citizenry, against one another to try and eek out enough of a margin to win an election. If you were to check my posts, you would find  I never post a bunch of facts and figures along with sources in order to prove a point or win an argument. Why? I don't trust the numbers or the sources completely. I take in all the information I can, but then I use my own brain to sort thru the BS.  We better jump off these trains we have been riding toward each other and start thinking for ourselves. If not there is going to be a major train wreck with a lot of causalities, some of us included.
