It seems there is a fair amount of resistance from the Freedom Caucus over promoting him to Speaker of the House. Some are saying he's not a true conservative , some are saying him wanting to spend time with his family is out of line. He seems pretty conservative to me but I'm not in with that crowd. Going home to his family on the weekends instead of raising money for the cause doesn't seem unreasonable too me either. So what do our conservative members think about him and this situation ?

I don't know if I'd call the Speaker's position a promotion.
As to Paul Ryan I believe his reputation as a conservative, ethical and moral person is widely known. He may not fit into every stereotypical conservative mold but he's a good'un.

I like young Mr Ryan......except for one glaring position he favors.
Wide open borders and amnesty to all who cross.

yeah promotion was probably the wrong choice of words. I like young Mr Ryan......except for one glaring position he favors.
Wide open borders and amnesty to all who cross.

He doesn't want borders ? Hey favors not doing anything with them or about them. That was stated as his position on Fox today.

If you care about your guns, Paul Ryan is a bad choice.
Per the GOA:
Rep. Paul Ryan is pro-amnesty (giving the franchise to millions of anti-gun voters), and he has a record of compromising gun rights. For example, Ryan voted for the Thompson-King amendment last year -- an anti-gun amendment that would add an additional $19.5 million to pay states to turn in more names to the federal gun-ban (NICS) list.
More names into the NICS system? You mean like adding more law-abiding veterans and senior citizens?
These Americans have done nothing wrong, other than choosing to live in a country that wants to strip them of their constitutional rights, merely because they’ve consulted a psychiatrist or are suffering from typical ailments related to old age.
If all of this were not bad enough, Erick Erickson of Red State reports that Paul Ryan wants to become more of a king than a House Speaker:
Paul Ryan has conditions to become Speaker of the House. One of those conditions is that the House of Representatives gut the ability to remove a future Speaker.
You read that right. Paul Ryan wants the House of Representatives to neuter the ability of a majority to replace the Speaker of the House.
It would be political suicide for House conservatives to agree to this, as it will only consolidate power in the hands of the Republican establishment:
If they go along with Paul Ryan, they will sign their own death warrant at the hands of Paul Ryan’s loyal lieutenants. Remember, Ryan has not even denounced the Chamber of Commerce and John Boehner’s outside PAC who together are trying to purge the House of conservatives.
Surely the House Freedom Caucus members cannot be this stupid. Surely . . .

NO.
Who then ? Bones still is....is he not. Perhaps they didn't think this through. From my understanding they forced him out. I think he would stay if he could. They are going to have to come up with someone though. If Ryan doesn't get it, what then ?

Looks like 70% of the Freedom Caucus is for him. Not an endorsement, but looks like he will take it.

Will see what happens. I use to like Ryan but he is for the Chamber of Commerce Groups that want cheap labor and cut the big checks. I have no problem with him wanting more family life, I say good for him. His other demands will not fly, including getting rid of the Right to Vacate that goes back to what Thomas Jefferson had installed so as no man got to much power. I do not see much chance for him right now unless he relents those demands. I think he made them as he kne they would be unacceptable as he really doe not want the job. Time will tell and soon. Chuck

Point number 1: Mr Ryan authored a bill prohibiting amnesty to illegal aliens that died in the Senate. Point number 2: Just 2 years ago Mr. Ryan was too conservative to be a Vice Presidential candidate according to many of the same sources that now proclaim he is too liberal. Point number 3: Mr Ryan does not want the position but in an attempt to preserve the Republican party is willing to take the job. In any industry, a talented and smart person will try to negotiate a contract to their favor, so why not do the same here, when it will be political suicide to whoever lands in this position? Point number 4: Mr Ryan may not be the perfect choice for the Speaker, but please tell me who is that will not tear the conservative and the moderate wings of the House even further apart. He has stated that only a unanimous vote will make him take the position that he really does not want. Point number 5: Mr Ryan represents the district I reside in and is well known as an avid hunter so please fact check his supposed anti-gun stance.
Mr Ryan has not always voted as I would wish, but he is one of the few members of Congress that still has town hall meetings locally throughout the district every couple of months so I have to believe Mr Ryan has a good idea what his constituency wants. For that reason alone, I would prefer Mr Ryan not take the Speaker position as I could loose a very capable Representative to the political machinations of Washington. When the Freedom Coalition decides to grow up and not have temper-tantrums that are now all the craze in Washington, perhaps this Congress can actually accomplish something. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would be proud of their behavior and socialists everywhere are dancing in the streets waiting for the conservatives to tear themselves apart.
Sorry, I just realized I am expecting too much from professional liars (a.k.a. politicians) that feed at the public trough.
