Throttle cable(s)

Any suggestions,
   This not making much sense! Hooked throttle cables back up. When bars are turned away from throttle drum, throttle returns normally. But when I turn bars toward the throttle drum, throttle does not return. What's going on?  No kinks in the cable, nothing binding or restricting. Checked shop manual. Routing of cables seem right.

Just went through this. Make sure that you run the cables like they were previously.  Not much room for error. Also make sure the cable ends are hooked up correctly at the carb end. I took lots of pictures so I could see where the cables ran and how they hooked up. It was a pain in the rear, but finally got it to work after several tries. Good luck. Be patient. You can do it.

Well Pro,
   There lies the problem. I took pics of where both cables attach to carb drum, no problem. But at some point in the project one of the cables kept being in the way. So I pulled it out of the way without thinking. So I am not absolutely sure of the cable routing. I have looked over the shop manual drawings/pics. Does not seem like many ways the cables can be routed. I'm going to go out later and give another try. "Pics are worth a thousand words", I've heard this somewhere before, now I know why! Thanks for the feedback.

I agree that there has to be a binding/routing issue. Just run them so is no binding and try one cable at a time to make the first cable is operating correctly then go on to the second.

Why were the cables replaced in the first place ?

   I did not replace, they just kept getting in the way. So I put them out of the way. Actually when I reassembled, the cable that actuates the carbs worked fine regardless of which way I turned the bars. It was when I hooked up return cable that things got sticky.

Does anyone have any pictures of the throttle cables as they come down to attach to the carbs?
