Lakes pipes and a connie kit AND Fiesta spinner discs. John-remember the 4 bar lancer discs? What's NOT too like? Bout 2 years for I joined the Navy I was looking at a 57 Olds J-2. At the time there were very few STOCK vehicles that could stay with a properly setup J-2. From the pics looks like a beautiful ride! RIDE SAFE.

Thanks for that post John Edit here It was a 371 v8 with 277 hp I still have part of the brochure in my office and used to have the shop manual Needed it to change the fuel pump which also mechanically drove the vacuum for among other things the wipers I had a 57 Olds super 88 while in college and 1st year of law school 4 barrel rochester carb Put over 50000 miles on it including trips to Florida Great engine, brakes not so great lol Mine was a coppertone brown You didnt need to go into the back seat at the drive in as the front seat moved back was plenty ample THat wasnt a plain super 88 maybe the holiday version as the rear bumper with the spare tire wasnt on the super88 I had a real full size tire in the trunk I bought and sold it for 500 This one is going for over 32k http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/231725893912?item=231725893912&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466&rmvSB=true

Oss-the brakes at all 4 corners-internal expanding drum brakes. A far far cry from modern disc brakes. BUT that older iron had CLASS. RIDE SAFE.

Love the three section rear windscreen.
I used to own a '75 Olds 98. The only one of its kind in Australia!

Man, what a classy ride What they want for it? He only had a phone number listed on the For Sale sign, no price. On the rear shot you can see a Gold colored SUV in the background. That's my humble ride, been running great since I cleared the title. Meant to add....there were a couple gals looked to be in there 40's, taking pictures as well. A couple caught me in them when I was standing near the front and today I had to use a cane....hip went south again. I kidded with them, said to let me get out of the way so it doesn't spoil their shots. They both laughed and said it's great that I was in them, I looked like I belonged. Would have hit them with my cane if I could have caught up with them. My wife just laughed at me, wished she had a picture of the look on my face when the girl said that.

Beautiful car! I had the first Olds Rocket 88, a '49. It would go.
i also had a '53 Olds super 88 with a Manual tranny, the Hydramatic plant burned down that year so the Olds had a Buick tranny in it.

For some reason all I remember from my 56 olds was the Wonder Bar radio.

Good ole American iron. There were a lot of unique and unusual vehicles back then. Olds had it in 1957 with the new 371 engine and their styling. The 2,4 and 6 bbl carburetor versions. A friend/mentor had a white 57 J2 convertible when we were kids, great car.

One of my favorite vehicles. I think that 1957 was THE BEST overall year for styling, they got past the box designs, and it was prior to the gaudy over the top excessive trim of the 58's and 59's.
Think about some of the most sought after cars, 57 Caddie, 57 Olds, 57 Chevy, 57 Plymouth, 57 Buick, Fords, not so much.

Wayne, you brought back some memories with that. I also had a '49, was a Fastback 98, bought it with 27k on it. Got wrecked when a drunk pulled out in front and crossed the street in front of me. He had a '49 Chevy and my Olds rolled it three times when I hit it(cuz I was drag racing on the one-way st.) Also had a '53 98 while stationed in Portsmouth, NH, both were great old cars. I had the '53 set up real good and on the turnpike I could get at least 24mpg. I remember the plant burning down, one of my friends parents had a new Olds with the Dyna"slow" tranny. He hated that thing, really sluggish.
