Naaaaaaaaaah, Just another political post.

Hey Davemn,........ PSHYC ! ! ! ! !  Cheesy    2funny     coolsmiley  coolsmiley

So who's tax plan did you like the most.  The flat tax came up quite often with varying percentages.  Getting rid of the IRS was stated by a few.  I'd like to hear more. They also included program cuts but no specifics.  I like what Paul said about no more raising of the debt ceiling.

Good topic G-Man.  Last night was suppose to get into this but instead was all about a hit squad on the Republicans except the hit squad got blasted.  The next debate if by Fox Business News and will surely try to get the candidates to expose specific plans.

From what bits I have heard from several candidates their plans are much better than the current status quo.  I would expect Cruz and Paul to have the best but will have to see.  There is a plan that has been hidden in the Republican drawers for about 12 years or more called the Fair Tax and to me is the most sensible.  It eliminates the IRS Gestapo and replaces it with a National Sales Tax.  The great advantage to this is all the underground black market money in this country now will get taxed at point of purchase, like when they buy expensive Cadillacs, or just anything.  For the deemed poor they will get their purchase taxes rebated back to them.  It has never seen the light of day up to now because the establishment Republicans want the IRS as bad as Dems for the power that it wields.

...which would be sad. I enjoy talking and debating politics as much as anyone, and certainly see nothing wrong with having these types of discussions on this general message board, but why not just do it straight up? Personally, I look forward to reading posts of members' ride reports on here, but then I guess that's just me...

why not just do it straight up?

Which I do, 99.999999999999999% of the time.

This was a knock at someone bitching (and not for the first time I might add) about being fooled into reading posts he doesn't want to see.  Humor, folks!  A little bit'o humor makes the day better.

But still, even the fair tax has some flaws.   Rich folks spend less of a percentage of their income, therefore will still pay less tax percentage wise.  Middle to upper-middle class with be stung the most.

when you think about it though, what good is their wealth unless they use it?

They do use it.  Think of every hospital wing you've ever been in.  Donated by some rich family.  All the charitable donations.  Etc.

Fair enough. I guess it is humorous in that I was expecting an actual ride report, as they are a main reason I check out posts on the general board. I do enjoy the political posts as well, as I find them sometimes informative and most times entertaining, although I don't comment for obvious reasons (except for that rare Canadian politics thread that appeared a short time back of course) cooldude

you are right about that. But I'm sure you aren't saying they should bet taxed on the money they spend on charitable causes. I was just making the point that if they spent the same percentage as regular folks, thus gaining a lot more things, they would be taxed. Thankfully, most of the very rich understand and act on the notion that it is their responsibility I a capitalist society to donate to causes that help us all.

NOT knocking the rich-they have better lawyers or are smarter. My point on donations-A college in West Plains Mo. just had a MAJOR-6 figures-donation for upgrades and a new building or two. Would NOT have happened WITHOUT the Major donation. RIDE SAFE.
