4 weeks ago I had a deer take my Valkyrie out from under me, hit me in the front wheel right in front of the fork. Bike went down on the left side then flopped over to the right side where it skidded to a stop.

I expect to hear $ amounts from insurance next week and will decide whether or not I will keep her. A few days ago my brother came and we tried to start her up but she would not fire. The battery was dead because the key, radio, etc had been left on. We hooked the battery charger to her for a while and tried again. The headlight comes on when the key turns on, when you press the start button the headlight goes out but the engine does nothing, no click, no turn over, no click under the right side cover, complete quiet.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, still recovering from the road rash and one messed up elbow,

David H.

You should ask on the tech board but it could be anything from the dog-bone to the tip switch. And a myriad in between.

Probably when the battery was drained to zero, it killed it.  Sounds like when recharged it would only take a partial charge. You need both voltage and amperage to do the job, and a weak battery just won't do it.

The kill switch is off (may still be the problem).
Where is the "tip switch" and what does it look like?

Make sure it is not hydro locked. Pull spark plugs then see if it spins over. DO NOT stand in line with spark plug holes.

When you are ready to tru again... Jump it to the car, that will eliminate the battery question.

Make sure the car is not running when you jump it. The tip switch is located on the back side of the front cover. Where the seat lock is but only behind it. Think you may be able to get to it from the left side cover. If it is still attatched and upright it is probably fine.

Tip switch is called Bank Angel Senser.

It's #8

As Chris stated, it's behind the middle cover under seat.

Kinda doubt that's your problem, most likely battery.

Fry the reg/rec?
I think I'd install a good battery instead.
