I went to the Stahl Automotive Foundation Museum today. It is in an industrial park north of Detroit, in Chesterfield, MI. The uniqueness of this place is that not only features transportation, it also has a rare collection of "automated music machines" and pipe organs. There are exhibits (cars) that are started and pipe organs playing all the time during the hours of operation.

De Dion Bouton Trike

WWII Harley Davison 45ci Dipatch Bike

1915 German built Front Wheel Drive Trike

1976 BMW R90

Indian Outboard Motor (yes that Indian!)

1964 Alloy Bodied 427 Cobra (loud as Hell!)

Steve Mc Queens Winton replica (built by Von Dutch)

Curved dash Olds

Ford Roadster Hot Rod (Great Race Competitor)

Car driven by Tony Curtiss in the movie "The Great Race"

40's era Mack pickup truck

40's era REO Speedwagon pickup truck (Mack and REO are the same)

Just look at the castings and plumbing on this engine

How about a Bentley? (just like Jay Leno's)

How about a Sports Roadster made from an American La France firetruck?

That American La France roadster was remanufactured as a "Rhino"

What we used to call our girlfriends before cell phones

An Austin Bantam

A very, very tiny german microcar (not a toy!)

There are many more truely classics such as Auburns, Cords, Duesenbergs, Huppmobiles, Rolls Royces, Caddillacs, Packards, DelaHaye, Chryslers, Kaisers, Graham Paige, as well as other domestic makes. This is a unusual and absolutely intrinsic collection of perfectly restored peices of powered transportation and automatonic musical devices.

Oh, no admission charge,.....donations are welcomed.

Some pretty cool stuff there! There is a similar museum in Nashville, TN called Lanes that also has a lot of cool pieces. I'm sure you enjoyed the visit. cooldude

If you (or anyone else) wants to come to the "Henry Ford", contact me. I may be able to get reduced admission rates,.....we are members.
The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village are about 1 1/4 miles from our home.

That Indian Outboard is worth major bucks for an outboard.

Looks like a great museum. A definite bucket list addition.

I think the Professor Fate car was driven by Jack Lemmon. Tony Curtis drove a white car (he was the good guy Leslie) that had great seat covers (Natalie Wood).
