to being able to start hauling stuff and pulling my tractor around.....Randy worked hard the last few Saturdays to fix some small issues on the 1984 Chevy C30.....he installed a new hitch to the frame and wired it all up and replaced the old taillights and etc....really appreciate all the work he put into this for me.....I brought it home yesterday and added some new side boards today to increase the amount of mulch and materials I can haul...the lift is rated for 5-6 tons......here's some before and after pics......I've got a few more small things to do...reinforce the corners and beef up the tailgate/sideboard connection....... cooldude

That's a nice looking truck cooldude cooldude

Might I suggest you install a pintle hook hitch.

So much easier to deal with.

+1 on the truck.

However - on the pintle - I'm sure you can find one that will go into the 2 inch receiver. Smiley

We use Pintle hitches at work...I still have to hook up to my trailer to see what exact set-up is going to work.....that is the next step... cooldude

Your well on your way to becoming independent or may the case be, bugged by all your friends to do landscaping favors for?

That 80's chevy surely looks to have escaped the dreaded cancer (rust), but I guess more down south they don't rust out too bad as compared to the more saltier winter northern states.

Steamer did you make the side boards?

Would handles on the side, side boards as there are on the tailgate  help lifting them on and off?

I don't plan on taking the sides off......if I were, I'd use metal ribs and lose the little 6" metal sides that are on there now...... cooldude

I pulled the truck and trailer to a level spot in the In-laws driveway...then made sure my hitch ball was at the right height and pulled the tractor up on the trailer both frontwards and backwards to check to make sure it was going to be enough down pressure on the tongue.....my box blade is still sitting there on one side of the trailer....I think this is going to work from either direction....just need to chain it down with my DOT chain and ratchet binders.....then I can take it out on the road and try to adjust the trailer brakes for the loaded trailer.....it had a brake controller in it, and Randy wired it up for me, I just need to bone up on how to adjust that particular controller...... it's older than the one in my work truck and a different style.....

I had the parking brake on the tractor give me a fit and didn't want to disengage like it's supposed to...I'm going to have to look closer at how it all works together....it's most likely just an adjustment thing too....

I checked the height of the sideboards and the tractor can easily dump across them as long as I curl the bucket back just a little....that way I can have maximum load carrying ability.... cooldude

Steamer, the local police constantly check yard work vehicles towing trailers to make sure they are DOT compliant.

Just saying  cooldude
