I'm currently with Century Link and am unhappy with their cost and service. NOT a lot of options here in the Ozarks. Cable America has more-what-capacity?-at less cost. Does anyone here have Cable America as their internet provider? Happy-unhappy-indifferent? I know Cable America came thru couple years ago putting up new cable and fishing for customers BUT at THAT time century link was doing a good job and had a good deal with my land line. Now I just want internet for a lot less than $75.00 a month!  uglystupid2 As always-T I A for any and all help.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

5 years back when We move to OR, I bought into a package of Direct TV/Century  Link (both phone and network).  We never did get the advertised speed from phone company.  We did have some problems with outages.  Little over a year and a half ago, I got tired of brushing the snow off the Dish and DTV wanting $75 to come fix their boxes.  So told them to take their products and shove it.   Even took the disk off our home and dumped it behind a DTV truck fixing a neighbors system.

Called Century to let them know I didn't want their phone service anymore, assuming that our internet would also be stopped.  Got another bill for internet.  Had to call them a second time to stop the internet.  Just saying.

We went with the local cable provider, Charter.   Haven't had much to complain about them.  Have their TV and internet package.   Internet speeds are around 60 MPs.  When we had problems with their modem unit they came out to replace them within 24 hours of me calling them.  For Free.   (we went completely land line free for the phones).

Can't say anything about your local Cable company.

good luck, I know how you feel.

ONLY option we have is TDS, telephone data system, where I live for internet/phone.  I got sick of their 1/2 a meg of speed for over 2 years (basically dial up) with their outdated eqmt. from literally the 1970's installed way back then and switched to only other option:  HUGHESNET satellite internet at 50 GB's anytime for 90 bucks per month - OUCH!.  They claimed UP TO 15 megs of service but usually hovered around 7-9 megs and if others on internet in house, dropped to 3-4 megs is all, NOT happy with that either since certain websites would not load for some reason.  ONLY ran over 50 GB's twice over the summer with kids watching netflix on LOW definition speed.

FINALLY after calling better business bureau and dozens literally of phone calls to TDS since the entire town was NOT happy with their slow dial up speed paying for 5 or 15 meg speed plan,  in July they switched their cabling and improved to FINALLY offer high speed internet a true 15 meg plan receiving on average 11-12 megs of speed for around 50 bucks per month since still have to pay an extra 12 bucks in taxes and fees associated with NO phone line service since need a phone line into house to get the DSL internet to work.

Unfortunately, NO other alternative in this one horse town screwed with TDS or satellite internet thru hughesnet or directtv or dish.  I can deal with 50 bucks per month just for 15 meg plan for internet, but much over that is too much in my opinion.

What gets my goat more so is the dish/directtv monthly TV bill being over 80 bucks per month - rip off.  I want to watch 15 TV channels at most but in order to get some of them, have to subscribe to the next upgraded package of 200+ channels which 90% are junk and never watch.  I called up and complained and they did offer 15 bucks off per month for the remainder of my 2 year contract, something is better than nothing.
