When I was a kid, I had this Go-kart with a Mac 9 on it, it would go an easy 60mph. Did some wheeling and dealing and ended up with a Lil' Indian mini bike frame, less engine. So I got the bright idea to take the Mac 9 and put it on the mini bike, the Mac had a modified Maxtorque clutch with lighter springs to make it engage faster. So I just got it put together, and a friend of my brother came by, with his Triumph Bonneville. He was a OK guy, but kind of a big mouth show off type. So, I was going to take it out on its maiden ride, so he started talking down on the mini bike, so I said, lets take it out in the street. Understand, I have no idea how this thing is going to react. So we are out in the street, we go at a slight roll, we both nail it, I made him look like he put his bike in reverse, down the street, he finally passed me at top end. One thing I didn't mention, you can imagine how fast we were going, when you are that young, you just have no fear! Well, the mini bike has no brakes on it, Right! It so happen, I was wearing my new Hush Puppies my mother bought me for school, So to slow down, and eventually stop, I drug my feet. After stopping, I looked at my shoes, they felt warm and I latterly melted the gum soles, down to the socks. Man! I knew I was a dead man, far as my Mom was concerned, we didn't waste money in that household. Finally got to nerve to tell Mom, before Dad come home, MAN the look on her face, when I showed her the shoes, There is Guardian Angles! Fortunately, she let me explain before she took me apart, and she started laughing at me with a frowning look at the same time. She kind of scolded me with a grin, Talk about mixed messages! Good thing was, she never told my DAD. My experience on my Lil' Indian.
