Someone must have kidnapped Bill Maher and replaced him with an almost rational android, that's the only explanation...

He has been rational for years. Maybe you weren't paying attention .

Don't really care much about Bill Maher.

But, I'd have to agree that he hits the mark with this one:

Quote
Bill Maher addressed how liberals rush to defend Syrian refugees and Muslims without acknowledging that many embrace a value set that is not shared with most Americans.

“If you are in this religion, you probably do have values that are at odds. This is what liberals don’t want to recognize,” Maher said. “This idea that somehow we do share values that all religions are alike is bullshit.”

Well, that certainly could be a possibility as that sure isn't the Bill Maher we love to 'dislike'.

sorry 3fan  we disagree here

I cant abide the thought of someone killing 6 million peaceful people
of any kind  just because of accident of their birth  Maybe you havent lost so many relatives to the mad austrian

Now a person or country who has declared war on us, game on

We have the ability to Identify them and eliminate (the biblical word I believe is proscribe) them but do we have a commander in chief who cares?

My stance is that there are NO innocent Muslims.

No not all of them are going to strap on an explosive vest and walk into a crowded coliseum.

But their lack of expressed outrage when one of their kind does so, implies complicity.

right after the paris attack there was a worldwide commentary on social media by muslims saying that the paris terrorists do not represent their faith and that what they did was wrong.

they often disavow the terrorists, the same way that we disavow groups like the westboro baptist church.  american christians are not responsible for and don't need to apologize daily for the actions of westboro. american christians are also not responsible for nor need to apologize for christian terrorists in CAR.

Sure there are muslims saying that the Paris Terrorists don't represent their faith and it was wrong.
I'm sure some are genuine peaceful folk.
Others not so much.

But point is that there has been no Institutional Condemnation of this or virtually any other Islamic related terror attacks.

I don't see the Powerful and Respected Islamic leaders voicing their condemnation of these attacks or moving Islam away from their reputation as violent religious fanatics. It seems that the issue  of the attacks either isn't addressed or they quietly condone and support them and encourage others to do so.

There is more and more of a disconnect between Islam, particularly among the younger generation, and Western culture.

Its really a simple matter. Ask an Islamic religious leader or your local friendly Muslim one simple question. Then ask yourself the same question.

Should Sharia Law be imposed on the People? They are rather adamant about ti.

You can take it from there.

As to the "Christian Terrorist" in CAR.

Really? You are going to define a Christian Militia group at odds with a Muslim Militia group within the border as Terrorist?

You want to give the Muslim Selekas carte blanche to machete the Christians to death?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/centralafricanrepublic/10502752/Seleka-the-militia-terrorising-Central-African-Republics-Christian-population.html

Its a violent place with a violent culture and history. The application of terror has been a way of life here for generations.

To equate that and Westboro Baptist Church with International Terrorist acts, attacks and groups is disingenuous.

Frankly I don't see the Christians exporting wholesale violence from CAR or anywhere for that matter. And if it does rear its ugly head it is thoroughly and swiftly condemned by the Christian community worldwide.

Do not know who the Westboro Baptist Church is.  Heck I do not even know what country or region Westboro is in.  But by golly if these Baptist  lunatics are  intent on creating a Baptist Calaphate on the world, butchering and killing by the many many thousands every year,  bringing down buildings and airplanes, raping women at will, creating civil wars all around the world and stoning women and gays because they looked at someone else the wrong way, then I do not want their refugees either.

They hate gays. Picket military funerals. The worst I know they have done is yell despicable things.

So, the liberals equate yelling hateful things, to mass murder, beheadings, etc and say they are equal.

Just telling him who westboro is. And I have seen apologists equate westboro with the terrorists. Commentators bring up terrorists, and they get back christian groups, such as westboro.

It is a real stretch, but they make it, not me.

Your leading candidate thinks there should be a national muslim database.  The next step if forcing muslim Americans to wear yellow crescents on their sleeves.  Your lack of compassion for people being persecuted is sickening.  The same ideology didn't want to take in Jews during WWII

I get the point you are trying to make.  Unfortunately, during WWII, it was pretty much all of Europe against the Jews, anti Antisemitism was rampant.  All of Europe should be ashamed for what they allowed to happen.  BUT..., How many of those Jews openly stated that they wanted to kill all non-Jews unless they converted?  How many bombings, mass murders, be-headings, etc. of non-Jews, were committed by Jews?  Two totally different scenarios.

BTW, the final solution was perpetrated by the fanatic followers of a pathological lier that was elected to power by a bunch of sheep that thought they were owed something.  Sound familiar?

Funny conservative line of thinking:

I'm terrified of Muslims.  I don't want sharia law in America.

OK.  Let's avoid that by separating church and state.

Nope.  I believe in Jesus and want this country to be more Christian.

OK.  Here are some refugees who need help.

Nope.  Not helping refugees while we still have homeless kids and veterans here.

OK.  Here's a bill to help vets.

Nope.  I don't want to raise taxes.

OK.  What about homeless kids?  Surely they deserve some help.

Nope.  Their parents are just lazy and want handouts.  They shouldn't have had kids if they can't afford kids.

OK.  Let's fund Planned Parenthood to help people plan their parenthood.

Nope.  Some of that money might go for an abortion, and I'm Pro-Life.

OK.  Let's give everyone easier access to health care to improve and extend their lives.

Nope.  That's socialism.  I believe in the Constitution, not dirty, dirty socialism.

OK.  At least we can agree on that.  I especially like the way the Constitution gives everyone freedom of (and from) religion.

Yes!  Freedom of religion.  Except Muslims.  I'm terrified of Muslims...

My Gosh. Just more ridiculous ultra liberal bravo sierra.

Just invite several refugee families to stay with you until they get on their feet and make their own living. If every liberal family would do that and take responsibility for their actions there would be no problem.

And, NO, sharia law should have no place in this country.

Anyone that thinks Sharia law is compatible with the America Constitution or The Bill of Rights has not read any of the Koran and the instructions that are given it's followers regarding infidels. Should we allow a people that will not respect our laws into our society? 9/11 was the result of 19 terrorists that came here legally and some want to open the borders to the potential of many times that.

Am I afraid? Damn right I am and you should be also. Apparently, there are some that are unwilling to learn from even recent history.

...

It always makes an interesting discussion when one makes up words to put in the mouths of people who disagree with them but it usually demonstrates that those people making up the words really don't understand (or know?) crap about those who disagree with them.   It really doesn't make a point with anyone except someone who is either dumber than dirt or already on board with the pretender's platform.

That goes for folks on both ends of the political spectrum.

Tell me more about how I don't know crap about the Republican party.

Are you saying they don't want the country to be more Christian?  Then explain the push for prayer in public schools, proposed laws banning gay marriage, etc.

Are you saying that they do want to accept Syrian refugees?  Then explain the near unanimous opposition in the Republican party to accepting them.

Are you saying they aren't against raising taxes to pay for social services?  Then explain why the party has been for cutting taxes and defunding social services.

Are you saying they want to fund Planned Parenthood?  Then explain the attempts to defund it.

Are you saying they are for Obamacare?  I mean really....

Are you saying they aren't terrified of Muslims?  Look at the hysteria over allowing Syrian refugees despite the fact that there has never been a terrorist attack on Americans by a Syrian.

Methinks you need to re-examine what you know about your party, because it is common knowledge that the things I stated in my post are true, and even those with an IQ lower than dirt know it (present company excepted)  Grin

I was pretty specific in what I said.

It's interesting when someone spouts a lot of exaggeration, misinformation, and misrepresentation and then describes it as "common knowledge".

Another assumption on your part.  It's not my party.

I won't bother discussing it with you.  I wouldn't bother discussing much of anything with you, public or private.  Every once in a while you go far enough to cause my irritation to overcome my intended standards.

By the way, in your response you very clearly violated the Rules of the Road.  I chose not to remove your post just to demonstrate how lenient I can be.  Don't look for a second example.

DHS has discovered 73 TSA airport employees are on the terrorist watch list.

And there are some that want to trust our government vetting process. Heck, I wonder just how they stumbled upon this.

Sorry this is long but.........

The pledge of allegiance contains the words UNDER GoD

The ACLU fought really hard to get the pledge knocked out of schools
I think it was a Big mistake as the Declaration of Independence clearly has several references to our Divine Creator.

Your frame of reference, if you REALLY want to speak about the Constitution must be the writings of the various people who actually lived at that time.  I am no constitutional scholar but I have read it many times, have read the federalist papers and many of the writings of the folks who lived during the time

Think its a coincidence that our first mission for those (see the happy birthday semper fi posts) Marines was to battle Islamic Pirates?  The folks who REALLY brought slavery to the new world?

And I have not found ANY reference to ANY Islamic patriot who fought for our freedom from England in my review of the period except for the possibility of up to 4 freed slaves with possible arabic names.   Therefore I am quite secure in stating that the words Judeo Christian suffice to be the base religious core of this Country that established that Constitution   Show me otherwise

Washington slept in a lot of places. One was Newport Rhode Island where he delivered the famous speech at the Synagogue still open that put forth the thought that government MUST NOT establish any religion lest we be no better than the fools in Europe who were killing each other for centuries when not battling Arabs (Moslems) who were intent on obliterating them.  Maybe a million or more died in those terrible clashes over a millenium.  We are still at war but our leader is an imbecile who identifies with the cult of allah and has bowed to the Saudi king and promised to side with Moslems when the crap hits the fan.

To pretend otherwise is to be the ostrich with its head in the sand (or up its ass)

Do republicans have a propensity to espouse christian values  You bet  I am not one of either but i understand it and it doesnt bother
me  as they understand the main point is not to prevent people from practicing their belief (or not) of the creator and not to help any religion that seeks to prevent others from practicing theirs
Clearly for 1200 year the Koran has taught death to Christians and Jewish people just because of their existence
If this doesnt bother you please go to the Middle East and introduce yourself.

Now I dont care if my christian brother wishes me a merry christmas  One can be an evangelical and not be dedicated to killing those who are not.

Now what is different about Islam is that it seeks to KILL all who do not comply.  Kind of like the Borg only they cut off your head instead of giving you cool robot parts.

Re the "refugees"  does it not bother anyone that Saudi Arabia and the other gulf states have not taken ONE refugee?  They are the fetid underside that both parties ignore and they IMHO are the achilles heel we ignore at our peril   Everyone who is on the board knows I have been against indiscriminate allowance of any immigrants that we have not quarantined and vetted over a LONG period of time

Would you have unprotected sex with Charlie Sheen  Just because you did a few times and did not get aids  I think not   Our country is having unprotected sex with these people whether they come across the border from Mexico or on a jet courtesy of the POTUS

Carl, I give you credit for not locking down this thread yet

The planned parenthood argument is insane. There are hundreds of great women's health organizations  PP is a sacred cow? That alone is reason for me to want it shut down. Its too big and cares only about politics Women are pawns to it

Well, with respect:

Sorry this is long but.........

The pledge of allegiance contains the words UNDER GoD

Actually, no it doesn't.  Allow me to explain.

Quote
The ACLU fought really hard to get the pledge knocked out of schools

As well they should: As both originally written and adopted by Congress, the Pledge does NOT include the words "under God".  The words were added in 1954, under the influence of the "Red Scare", in order to differentiate ourselves from the Soviet Union, along with the pressure and backing...of Christian supporters

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance

So, therefore, the ALCU, contrary to right-wing complaints, is trying to...return the Pledge to its original form.  Shocking!

Appreciate the respectful discussion

The "Present" PLEDGE does as we have discussed here many times
has the words Under God

Problem is The ACLU got the ENTIRE pledge out of schools

Not just the under God part and note it doesnt say "In Jesus Name"
which by the way kinda made me uncomfortable at the last few Inzanes I have attended during the blessings  which led me to question whether this is the Valkyrie Riders Christian Club  (tongue in cheek)

If they REALLY cared they would have lobbied the Democratic Congress to reinstate the previous (not the 1st) ???

pledge not trash the whole thing

And the fact that the words UNDER GOD should so irritate the ACLU
is proof to me that the ACLU has a warped sense of both history and religion  and is now a stranger to its roots

One reason I say this is that the original (1st) pledge of Mr Balch is below and irony of ironies both versions were written by socialists
This is the 1st pledge from 1892 before communism was known here

"We give our heads and hearts to God and our country; one country, one language, one flag"  source being your article thank you

Actually the 1st pledge is the one that works best for me and I would
vote for it given a chance

True, but that wasn't the one adopted by Congress.  The fundamentalists pressured for the change and those who were amenable to that cause supported it.

Even though it does not say "Jesus", every time I hear it I feel it may as well, considering both where it came from and what they are trying to forward.  And that does not make me happy, personally - I fully believe in freedom of religion but somehow my "freedom" is often seen as the "freedom" to agree with others' aspirations.  People of differing faiths should not have to feel like second-class citizens.  So boo hoo, believers don't get to place their belief in almost every aspect of society's activities.  Cry me a river.

Yeah,, I kind of feel your pain when I am subject to Arabic prayers from the street corners in Mich. If you are going to remove "jesus" as you seem offended by then the others have to go too. If I remember right I think it said "freedom of religion" not "from religion"

Exactly right - I agree with removing religion from all governmental actions.  But the guy preaching Islam on the street corner?  Regretfully that's private, no government involved, so like or not he has the right to be there.  Just as much as the Christians standing on the train platforms do, preaching their wares.  As long as the don't force a confrontation they are within their rights and I hold no ill will towards them - when they get into my face, then there's a problem.

It's not religion I have a problem with, that's private.  As long as it STAYS private, please be of faith, have courage from your faith and be of peace and good will from it.  But keep it PRIVATE, got it?

It's not religion I have a problem with, that's private.  As long as it STAYS private, please be of faith, have courage from your faith and be of peace and good will from it.  But keep it PRIVATE, got it?

Religion is a lot like a penis.

If you've got one, great, have fun with it, enjoy it, I'm happy for you.

But don't go whipping it out in public.

And don't you DARE try shoving it down my children's throats!

In other words... Matthew 6:5-8.

Ah, that's perfect, too bad they (pick and) choose to ignore it.

Tell me more about how I don't know crap about the Republican party.
...

There was no "spouting", no exaggeration, misinformation, or misrepresentation in my posting.  Although I haven't been in the voting booth with you, it is safe to assume you vote Republican based on every single posting of yours on political threads.  Suggesting it's not your party, when that is how you vote is disingenuous.  You make a post insinuating I don't know crap, and I'm dumber than dirt, and then have the gall to tell me that I violated the rules of the road?  Maybe you should be less lenient on yourself and delete your own posting, or better yet not post at all.  What is the saying, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."  Try holding yourself to the standards you expect of others.  I mean really, insulting someone and then acting like you are magnanimous for not deleting a response that is calling you on it.

I'll have to agree with that as well.  When they ask on forms, I usually leave it blank or check the most vague - what I am is irrelevant.  We are all "mutts" in reality, get used to it.
