One dragon on the tail of another.

« on: November 20, 2015, 08:24:00 PM »

Had to put the Valk up for the winter.  I moved it to the basement workshop today before the snow started flying this evening.  This has happened every fall for the last eight years, but it's always a downer.  My final ride was last Sunday, a 200 miler.  At least we have four months to do the annual maintenance, inspections and enhancements.  This winter, a Rostra cruise control is being added...

OH yah, weather idiots are pretty accurate this time around.  Drove home at midnight just now and about 8" on the ground already and suppose to stop my noon tomorrow so for sure 3 more inches of this crap, guessing 10" total.  NICE!  Drove 4-45 mph top speed all the way home with a 4wd truck most FWD vehicles were bucking snow going 30 mph.

They say northern IL got hit a tad worse than southern WI.  For once,  we get more snow than northern WI and as far as I am concerned, it could have waited 1-2  more weeks until my scooter and Valk were cleaned up and oil changed/winterized.  Wife/kid is NOT happy either,  haven't had time to put our snow tires on the other 2 vehicles - GUESS what I am doing on Sunday one tire at a time? Sad

Sue and I drove home from Friday movie night while the snow was falling.  Only got a quarter inch, but even that would impair my ability to get the Phat Girl into the workshop.  I have to ride her around the house across the lawn.  The gas tank is drained and off the bike, will drain the carbs today and start the annual dismantling process...

No, it does not help, it's 18o F here this morning.  But thanks for trying to relieve the depression...

Don't know how you guys get through those bad winters. I grew up in northern Indiana and hated the cold and snow. We didn't get nearly as much as some of you. My memories are of falling on ice and sliding my car in ditches. Since joining the Navy in 1977 only visit when it's warm. I'm starting to think eastern Virginia is to cold. I must be missing a cold weather gene. Looking forward to being able to spend a few months in the south each winter after retiring.

Not to rub it in but.The irony here in the deep south is as winter comes the weather gets better. Great to ride with a jacket and gloves on. Summers so hot and humid very difficult for some to handle. Just took a ride to Mc Donalds in short and tee shirt. Smiley

Mine is sitting in the garage set for the long winter.  No walk in to work on in the basement so the rest of my maintenance will wait for early spring.  Hope you take lots of pic's Bob would like to see the install.
