I've been enjoying all the ride reports. So I thought I would contribute as well.
Pulled out of the garage early Friday afternoon with a particular destination in mind.
Good thing I did, because on Saturday we experienced something that happens up here on occasion.
You can't see them but there are some tracks under all that white stuff.

Good thing I made it to my destination before it started falling. Got the big girl down to the cave, with a laundry list of stuff to keep me busy for the winter.

The word "Cave" triggered something in my head, about an article I read a long time ago. I don't know if it is true or not, I believe it was written by a lady. But she stated the term "Man Cave" was like a put down, or  to belittle men, due the fact men spend so much time in their work and play areas, and with their friends.  To state, that men are like Neanderthal beings that live in a cave, which is designated as a "Man Cave" today. Problem is, that is backed fired on them, the men kind of like the sound of that, and adopted that for their work and play area.

We got slammed over here to, but the bike stayed in the "pole barn". The weather guessers were wrong as usual. Living on the lake shore is usually a fun place not to be. We like to share with y'all on the east side.    Evil

Today on the way home from shopping, on Harper Ave, coming the opposite way, was a person on a motorcycle.  They turn before I got up to them, I looked at the car thermometer, and it said 29* and black ice all over the place.

All this talk of Winter is making me cold, as I prepare for 4 days work travel to the Farmington Hills and Grand Rapids MI regions next week. Was sure hoping it would hold off until I was done there for the year tickedoff  Wink Wink
Looked pretty nice when I was there just a couple of short months ago...

Shooting from the hip!! I would say Farmington Hills, is no issue, but Grand Rapids on the other hand.  They get what is called lake effect snow, at any time, I think it depends on the wind coming from Lake Michigan. For some odd reason, where I live, much of the bad weather tends to go above or below us, most seasons.

Thats a fact.  Grand Rapids is on the outer edge of the Lake Michigan lake effect snow.  This side of the state gets far more snow than the eastern part that Dreammaker spoke of.  I had new snowmobiles for about six years that we sold in 2012.  My sister and brother in law had lake cabin just west of Tawas in the Huron National Forest.  We kept having to cancel planned trips between the holidays and in Jan. due to lack of snow over there.

I live just south and west of GR, and  north and west of Kalamazoo. We are right in the middle of it all. I give RJ crap for sending it over here across the pond. He could just send it south of the state to the Indiana and Ohio guys and share his good graces with them.

Might seem strange to some, someone from Canada complaining about Winter weather, but the truth is that in SW BC (greater Lower Mainland region) at least, unless you head up any one of the many mountains we have around here, you're not going to see a lot of snow or ice for the most part. Last Winter in fact, I didn't even have to remember where I put my snow shovel, let alone use the darn thing. Typical Winters for us include a week or two of moderately freezing temperatures here and there and maybe one or two snowfalls where the stuff actually sticks around for a week or so before the rain washes it away. All other regions of BC are a different matter - regualr Winter weather like the rest of the country.
I'm originally from the interior region of BC where we had good old fashion Winters, but I've definitely become climatized living where I do over the past many years. You can actually get a good ride in at least a few times in the worst months. I travel a fair bit across Canada and to the NE US for work though, so I do get my blast of Winter weather each year. cooldude

got near 12" of that crap last Friday night into Saturday morning.  Some nearby got up to 17".  I'd like to keep that amount of snow in northern WI, NOT southern WI, as is the norm.  tickedoff
