Hey guys I have another question. Since I'm going to pull my carbs. to rebuild them I was looking at the REDEYE heat shield that goes between the block and carbs. Anybody has it, does it work, etc.. I was also debating on getting the de-smog kit too. Yes/no, thanks and drive safe.

Can't help with the shield question, no experience with that.

IMHO, de smog is something to do if you want to illiminate future issues with leaking carb tubing. It also cleans out ALOT of the crap between the tank and carbs.

You can buy the kit or do a home made job.

Just another thought.

I believe the red eye kit uses the "remove the chrome pipes" method.

I desmogged all my bikes using the home made plan and left the pipes on.

I mean, they're CHROME.

I'm not used to taking chrome off. :)

Right exactly, that's why you can also buy the redeye stealth desmog kit, which is reversible and leaves the little chrome piping on there.  I have it, but after more than a year I still haven't gotten around to doing it ;D

I had a shop make the tool used for the stealth de-smog... let me know if you need to borrow it (pay for shipping).

Pass it on to the next person that needs it. Makes the removal easier.
