I know some guys like to use the winter months to swap out the fluids.

For those that want to stay with DOT 4, I found a qt bottle at Advance Auto for $4.99.

They also have Seafoam with a $5.00 discount on 2 bottles.

I use Sea Foam religiously in everything I have. One store has it for $11.00 and you go down the road a half mile and get it for $7.00. The store at $11.00 wonders why it doesn't sell and the $7.00 store can't keep it in stock. I told the owner of the $11.00 store to send someone to the other store and he would be able to figure it out. The money grubbin ass he is.

Yep, I find that Sea Foam prices are all over the map. We all use it here and it works great for storage.

Well, of course you would use the Seafoam to keep your Dot 4 clean while in the hydraulic system!

I haven't looked into it that much, but DOT 4 has been harder to find, for some reason, and supposedly there's a HYBRID out there.  I've heard DOT 5 is available.

Maybe the hybrid or DOT 5 is better?  Don't know.  But DOT 4 works and I found it at 5 bucks for a Qt and thought I'd pass the info on.

A few years ago (2-3)  advanced auto parts had one of those coupons online available and I picked up in store a gallon jug of seafoam vs. just the 16 ounce can is all.  It was a lot cheaper to do it that way and still have about 1/2 the big white jug left of seafoam.

Does seafoam have a shelf life once opened or not opened??    I would not think so, but stabil has a shelf life that I know since after a few years it can have particles inside floating around, not good.

only use DOT 4 with the highest wet boiling point. I've posted before brands to get.
never use DOT 5 not compatible with any other type fluid.
the hybrid is DOT 5.1 and is for ABS systems, different viscosity vs DOT 4.  is compatible with DOT 3 and 4. due to viscosity might not provide same braking performance in a non-ABS system from what I've read. I presently have not seen any actual testing to back that up.

I went back and checked out your old posts, good info.

Also, this is good info originally posted by Rio Wil

http://www.lelandwest.com/brake-fluid-comparison-chart.cfm

For my use, the fluid I bought will be just fine, as I plan on continuing to changing it out every 2 -3  years.  With 3 bikes to do, I'll probably need all of a qt or more.

Basically, I've learned not to stockpile it like oil or grease, as it has a shelf life, even before opening the container.

Thanks, that is a great link from Rio.  I picked up the Pentosin, its in a metal can, NAPA carries it.
The ATE brand is considered one of the best for the $$$, high wet point allows a change out up to 4-5yrs.
