I found this video on the web, mine is supposed to be here in a few days and I found it interesting how they ship them in returnable dunnage.

This video did NOT lower my anticipation level of excitement.  Wink

I wonder what is in the other few cardboard boxes they ship with it since looks to me the bike is pretty much complete from the factory?  maybe some accessories ordered as well??

You may get a chance to take it out this weekend still if what they say it will do is warm up into the upper 40's by this weekend?

Absolutely brilliant way of packaging the bike.  I would expect no less of Honda.

Honda has done that a time or three. Also conducive to good shipping on American truck/trailers. Honda or any manufacturer wants ZERO defects from assembly plant to final customer. So excellent packaging pays off in the long run. When I was still driving I hauled windshields from the manufacturer to the assembly plants in Michigan. NEVER had a broken windshield-good packaging and air ride trailers. RIDE SAFE.

. . ..When I bought my first State back in 01, I insisted that it be
"new in the crate", and I wanted to see it before they put it together.
Told them I didnt want one off the showroom floor that folks had
been throwing a leg over and scratching up and scuffing with zippers
and shoes.

They called me about a week later and said it was in. They took me
in the company truck to their warehouse and we walked up to a wooden
crate that had been opened and you could see a black 2001 Interstate
in pieces in there and I said.....Put it together.....I,ll take it..

Bet you,re really getting excited about now eh Dave ?
I have the feeling this is going to be the best Christmas
that you,ve had in quite some time. ..  cooldude

This was my experience.  Told the dealer if they had a Black I/S in a box, I would take that one.  Stopped by that evening and they were putting it together.  Picked it up the next day after work....Friday 3/3/2000.  It was 32 degrees.  Even though I only had a mile to my house, I thought I would freeze.   Shocked

Wow! Honda has come a long way with their packaging Shocked

Back in the mid 70's I worked at a dealership "setting up" Hondas.

They came in a cardboard covered wooden crates that had styro-foam fillers.

We had to install the fenders, handlebars, tanks, headlights, mirrors, front wheel and axle and hook up most of the wiring.

Honda had very specific manuals and an allotted time frame to complete the set.

All the packaging went into the dumpster.

That's one nice looking bike in that Vid.
