Quick question about headlight bulb access

Going to add the smartswitch from BonS on my 98 Tourer.  Is it necessary to remove the windshield to get the headlight bezel off?  I can see the screws, but it looks like there is interference fro the shield.  I'll try to get them with a long screwdriver but if any of you out there that have already done this and know the best procedure, it might save me some cursing.

OEM shield is just 4 bolts, but you can do it with a long Phillips.

You CAN get them out with a long screwdriver, but I can't get a straight shot with my windshield mounted. As noted, it's just four bolts and lift it away; IMO, well worth the frustration of stripping a screw head, if the threads have grown some rust over the years.

Just did my 98 Tourer with a Clearview shield but OEM brackets. The picture is from ShopTalk
remove the 4 #15 bolts to remove. I just loosened the bottom #15 on each side and had enough
room for a long screwdriver.
