I think the sentence was too long and I don't agree with a terrorism charge in this case

it keeps up EVERYHING will be terrorism and EVERYTHING will be 25 to life

in my opinion

Do it while you can. I did.... it my way

Harsh? Maybe, could have gotten someone killed, that is kinda harsh also.

Stupid - absolutely.

I'm wondering what you think ?

I guess I need to get out more often, never heard of this.
But, considering what what the phone calls said and it was done twice, I feel he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as the judge stated.
Another but, this a just a dumb ass stupid friggin' kid. I think he should receive a pretty harsh punishment and his parents should have to pay the bill. 25 yrs for this is harsh especially for a stupid kids action.
I'm thinking this will be looked at and the sentence reduced, I think this is intended to scare the crap out of the kid. Parents should still be billed for all expenses.

Geee, you guys are fast typers.

SWAT'ing is INCREDIBLY dangerous for everyone involved, and should be punished very severely IMHO. I don't like the "Terrorism" tag being overused (The boy who cried Wolf! syndrome) but I can see how it could apply here, depending on his intentions.

Hopefully this conviction will make the anti-civil rights groups think twice about advocating their members SWAT lawfully armed people in public.

Their tactic of SWAT'ing people has already caused at least one death.

Serk, you are slipping  :)

D'oh! Been a busy weekend, moved 2 new gun safes into place and I'm plum wore out!

But yeah, that specific one was fake but there has been dangerous cases of SWAT'ing, and at least one conviction, although for only a year and a day:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3270701/Connecticut-online-gamer-22-sentenced-one-year-prison-swatting.html

But IMHO SWAT'ing is akin to attempted murder and should be treated as such.

Needs punished and might set an example for others to help deter that from happening.   However, that being said..... I have seen or heard of some folks committing murder or causing a death and receiving much less.

Have you noticed that crimes committed against or involving Police, Police Dogs or the law, have much harsher punishments than if it were a regular citizen?

HAD the O P been true and with the severe-now false I guess-injury as stated the punishment do fit the crime. And here is WHY-someone HAS to be made an example of so others contemplating similar idiocy MIGHT take pause. Just because you ARE young and dumb is NOT an excuse-I M HO. Had this actually happened would the 15 year old been happy once or would he have been happier had someone died? RIDE SAFE.

It is a really really tuff call! You don't want to waste a young life, but yet young people, can pull a trigger just as an adult could, age, color or gender, make no difference, whether it is a gun or a keyboard, to do damage to someone's life.

Like I have said before, we had a saying in our neighborhood, "If you are old enough to shoot your mouth off, you are old enough to get your ass kicked"!

3fan4life

This is an extremely harsh sentence.

Not only is it a waste of a young person's life it is also an incredible waste of tax dollars.

The young man did a stupid thing and should be punished.

I would think that being sent to a juvenile facility until he's 21 would be more than sufficient.

While his actions are disturbing, I am more disturbed by the actions of the SWAT team, after all they did shoot and critically wound an unarmed man.

There seems to be an epidemic in this country of the police shooting the same citizens that they are being paid to serve.

In essence the excessiveness of the young man's punishment seems to have hinged on the failure of the police to do their job properly.

a search based on Warrant may or may not be legit instead of hijacking a prior post

The fact that the story may be false in part only serves in my eyes to further make the point that all is not always as it seems

Giving false testimony is wrong, people can die, reputations can be lost  SWATTING is scummy practice Its right up there with yelling fire in a crowded theater

And snopes is not perfect any more than the NYTimes or MSNBC or Fox  ( and for the record I stopped reading the times when I was 11 because it make me sick)

Oss, it's really no big deal.  :) There seem to be a lot of supposed media outfits spitting out a lot of BS. I'm not really sure why. And no Snopes is not infallible. But that was an easy story to unsluth. In the comments section below the supposed story, people explained it to be a photo of some scumbag who abused a little kid. It was pretty easy to figure it out from there. That's why I was so tickled with Serk.  :2funny: Even a meathead butcher can beat a techno whiz in a blue moon.
